EDT 180 Section B

During my time attending the EDT 180 course I can confidently say my tech literacy has

improved. I’ve explored programs and computer-based tasks I had never used before such as

Photoshop and learning the basics of coding while stimulatingly improving my abilities and

confidence on programs I was familiar with like the ones found in Microsoft office. The course

has improved my ability to deal with basic problem solving and overall, I am more confident

when utilizing computers.

Exploring new programs was something I found extremely interesting in this course. I had never

used photoshop before but was always interested in the program. My goal before using this

program was to understand the basics of photoshop which I achieved. The first day of

instruction really helped me achieve that goal. The step by step instruction was very helpful and

kept the instruction simple. It took some time for me to fully comprehend the basics of this

program but exploring the program out of class helped me. I spent some time tinkering with it

and building confidence. I took a similar route with the coding assignment, my goal with that

was to gain a basic understanding of what coding was and how to utilize it. I had an easier time

with this program mainly because of how it was presented. Overall, I am confident in my ability

to use these new programs and would like to explore them further.

My confidence has greatly improved while utilizing computer programs, especially the ones in

Microsoft office like excel and word. I obviously had knowledge of these programs beforehand

but didn’t realize exactly how much I could accomplish and the capabilities of these programs. I

would have never thought to make something like a brochure before I took this course. Learning

how to navigate further in Microsoft word has proved helpful in other courses I am taking. I

definitely accomplished my goal in becoming better versed and more confident in basic

computer programs. The exercises we did in class proved useful, as well as the study guide that

went over these programs. They set a basis for what to go over and what aspects were important.

I am far more confident and better prepared to utilize computer programs since taking EDT 180

An area I have also improved in is basic problem solving. I did this through familiarizing my

self with various programs and how to navigate each one. The instruction I received in class was

very useful for this. The take home assignments forced me to use these programs which was also

helpful. The ability to problem solve has helped me both at school and at home with my own

computer. I am more empowered to try to problem solve myself now instead of turn to an outside

source for assistance.

I have learned a lot from taking EDT 180, much of which is very useful. I have improved my

confidence, my understanding of new and familiar programs, and my ability to engage in

problem solving. I came into the course with what I felt was limited knowledge but through the

instruction I received I feel better prepared and more knowledgeable when dealing with

technology.
