Career Essay

I want to be a Surgeon; I’m not sure what Surgeon I want to be yet because

that’s a big topic to research on. My personality types were Social, Conventional, and

Enterprising. My top three career clusters were Law, Public Safety, Corrections and

Security, Government and Public Administration, and Human Services according to

Naviance. The results of my Career Clusters don’t fully fit my choice of Career but I

believe that I want to care and help people in need.

This job will require patience and steady hands. I can expect pay of about

$106.09 per hour and $220,670 per year according to Occupational Outlook Handbook.

Yes, this pay is enough to support the Reality Check that I’ve chosen. The expected

growth of the industry is 13% faster than average. A Doctoral or Professional Degree is

required in this medical field.

A day in the life of a Surgeon is hectic, because you never know what is going to

happen. Many Surgeons are on call 24/7 which means they don’t have a strict schedule

so anyone trying to do this job needs to be flexible. You would need to be able to come

into work in the middle of the night or whenever necessary for patient care. A Surgeon

works indoors with many people surrounding them.

My plan to peruse my career is to do a lot of schooling to get my degree in

Medicine. I will probably become a Paramedic before I go into Medical School so I can

have some experience in the field. If my high school offers classes for this career, I will

probably participate in them. Yes, I would love to be an intern for this job, I think it

would be a great learning experience. I am going to try to get a scholarship for when I

need to go to college.

This career is a choice I have chosen because I want to do everything it requires

for me to be able to get the best learning education possible. It would be nice to be able

to do hands on work as an intern and then eventually become a wonderful Surgeon. I’m

looking forward to perusing my career choice.
