Writing 121

Final Reflection

My time in John Visnaw’s class was probably one of the most i’ve ever gotten out

of a writing class here in my scholarly career. I am a graduate from columbia central

high school and the most writing that I have managed to take was an Advanced

Placement writing class. There is a lot that you can learn from a college writing class

and one of the things that I’ve managed to retain is the different uses of rhetoric and

managing to find different ways to obtain information. We picked a topic at the

beginning of the semester and we built off of that topic each and every topic finding

different ways to convey that information in sorts such as our proposal, which we had to

get our inquiry question, and then we had to build up an argument off of that. Our

second project was our research project. What we had to do was use our inquiry

question and sort of sum up a bunch of information about our topic and the problem that

we are facing in terms of closed adoptions.

The main point of this class to me was to be able to build my writing skills and to

reflect upon myself in my high school days to grow. I feel that once you have a good

habit down for writing then it really isn't that hard to be able to do my essays for even

other classes. I feel like this class definitely built me off to be a better writer and a better

researcher. I managed for my other class to research better ways into finding out my

topics for that class.

To be able to study and to retain information about a topic your barely

knowledgeable about is a great skill that you should be to have to obtain in your college

classes. What this class successfully did was help me be able to figure out how to

gather knowledge from sources such as the Eastern Michigan University database,

such as scholarly and normal excerpts from books, articles, and proposals.

I feel like my performance in this class was way better than when i have first

taken it during the previous semester, i'm gonna be honest. In high school, i definitely

wasn't the best of writers. I only got a 3 on the AP exam, when a lot of my peers around

me were getting scores such as 4 and 5’s. I kept up with my deadlines, I for the most

part have managed to do things such follow the rubrics and i have taken notes on the

things that are importantly brought up in the class. I feel that a lot of the things that i

have been able to comprehend were from reading the book. Things that were talked

about in the books were those such as rhetoric (etc), plagiarism and how to prevent

yourself from making that mistake, and how to properly source information.

One of the main course outcomes that I feel I have accomplished throughout the

semester was the Research Process. There's a lot of different ways that i had to go

upon figuring out how to find what I wanted to put in my research paper. That included

what kind of sites that I wanted to put inside of my essay, what kind of articles that I

would wanna put into the essay, theirs different types of stuff that are going to be

required in these essays. We had to find both normal based articles along with things

such as scholarly articles.

One of the most fascinating things that I have managed to accomplish in this

whole semester is the multimodel design. I really enjoyed doing this and figuring out
different ways to initiate these ideas. I enjoyed doing my projects about adoption. Their

is a lot that you can learn from doing different types of projects, both visual, speaking,

and ones that you can actually hold in your hand. It was a great way to learn just what

you are able to do in your own words. It made me take part in more a creative mindset

when it comes to presentations. I used to be able to do things in a more boring and

straightforward kind of presentation. But what this Writing 121 class has taught me to do

was think more outside of the box and to take a different approach to things.

I feel like my reflective interactions with my peers, teachers and myself has

strengthened the ways that I can manage to get people to look at my papers and I

learned different ways to correct myself along with doing things such as correcting my

own paper because I learned what other people were going to be looking for when it

comes to doing my paper. I learned how to talk to people and how to correctly talk to an

audience. This is going to be able for me to improve my writing skills in order to figure

out what I need to do in the end of my papers

There are many different literary outcomes that I want to be able to go into my

next writing classes. So once i get accepted into a nursing class, than I am going to

have to be able to do a writing intensive class and I feel like this class is perfectly

preparing me for this. There is a lot that I could expect from myself now that I have been

able to take this class. I feel that taking the writing 121 class has better prepared me for

the future in writing and once I am able to do things that I have been able to do in this

class and then further attenuate myself into being a better writer,

The rhetoric goals that I have been putting myself upon from doing this essay is

going into different ways to portray the information that I am being provided. I wanna
further put more ethos, pathos, and logos into my essays because I feel that being able

to do that will make them be able to get more immersed into this essay. If I could put

more effort into my papers than I feel that my papers would be able to go and be more

interesting. Their is a lot of different things that I would be able to do in my future essays

and I would hope that being able to go into further writing class would help me further

improve my writing skills.

I feel that taking this Writing 121 class was a great experience, I made plenty of

friends in this class that I plan on being friends with throughout my whole career of

college. I am glad that I have taken this class and it was honestly a super enjoyable

class. It wasn’t too straightforward and being able to work with others on assignments

and group projects was super fun. I liked the whole CSW situation because it made me

look at many different types of situations that people have thought would be important to

talk about and then they decided to collaborate into making a whole project. Our class

did something specifically special with making all of the projects into monsters. I feel like

it was a fun and creative way. Taking this class has definitely prepared me for my future

in college, I feel that my writing abilities have improved for the better and i’m thankful

that I was able to take this class. Thank You.
