Objective: I will ​analyze​ the ​structure​ of a​ conclusion​ of a compare contrast ​essay ​in order to

compose ​my own ​introduction.

Examining the evidence carefully, the average person can see that although peanut butter

and jelly sandwiches and Cup Noodles are both highly enjoyable choices for lunch or snack time,

peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are better for your health. ​While millions of people consume

these foods, the higher amount of calcium in PB and J is better for your spine health and for

healing quickly.​ ​Also, the higher amount of sodium and fat in Cup Noodles can negatively affect

heart health.​ After all, the body is God’s temple, and God’s temple needs to be taken care of

properly.

Directions - Part I - Taking apart a concluding paragraph

STEP #1

Open a GoogleDoc.

Title of Assignment​: Writing an Introduction/SLE 6

Type the Objective exactly as I have above and paraphrase the underlined words.
STEP #2 (3 minutes)

Look at the CONCLUSION for the Cup Noodles/Peanut Butter essay and do the following:

Identify how the first sentence of the conclusion is related to the THESIS of the five paragraph
essay Sample essay can be found on the ​language (all grades) ​ page at preyburn.weebly.com.

STEP #3 (3 minutes)

Look at the SECOND sentence of the conclusion and do the following:

Indicate how the sentence is related to the FIRST and SECOND body paragraphs of the sample
essay.

STEP #4 (3 minutes)

Look at the THIRD sentence of the conclusion and do the following:

Indicate how the THIRD sentence is related to the THIRD body paragraph of the sample essay.

STEP #5 (3 minutes)

Look at the FINAL sentence of the conclusion.

Indicate how the FINAL sentence is related to the INTRODUCTION of the Essay.
Directions - Part II - Composing your own concluding paragraph

STEP #1 PARAPHRASE YOUR THESIS AND TYPE HERE.

STEP #2 Write ONE sentence that gives the main idea, the “M” of the FIRST body paragraph.

STEP #3 Write ONE sentence that gives the main idea, the “M” of the SECOND body

paragraph.

STEP #4 Write ONE sentence that gives the main idea, the “M” of the THIRD body paragraph.

STEP #5 Type a sentence that gives some sort of important message to the reader. This

sentence should somehow be related to your INTRODUCTION.

STEP #6 Check for:

Indentation of paragraph. (Hit TAB to indent.)

Capitalization of first word of sentence and ending punctuation for each sentence.

Complete sentences with subject and verb. If you are not sure, ask me.

Correct spelling. Look at dictionary.com first. If you are still not sure, ask me.
