1. What do you wish you had known or handled differently during your school age
years that has affected your then future self-----you now current self?
2. Do you remember reaching a physical accomplishment in elementary or middle
school? What was that? How did you feel after reaching that goal?
3. When you were ages 6-12 did you ever learn to jump rope or hula hoop? What other
physical activities do you remember? What activities could you teach a school aged
child that you think they would love?

Introduction to the Lesson:

Bell ringer: Play with Jump rope and hula hoops and maybe hangman. Allow students for few
minutes to try to hula hoop and jump rope. Get a few volunteers to model the activity. “Who can
jump rope or hula hoop?”

Question: When you were ages 6-12 did you ever learn to jump rope or hula hoop? What other
physical activities do you remember? What activities could you teach a school aged child that
you think they would love?
Content to be presented in lesson:

“Good Morning everybody! We are starting a new unit today. Over the next week we are going
to be learning about school-aged children. Today we will be discussing the importance of the
school age years on a child’s future and determining different ways we can promote school-
aged children’s physical development. We will define vocabulary words in this unit. Let’s start
by trying out the hula hoops and jump ropes. I need several volunteers! Now that everyone is
awake, we are going to be taking a quiz over our new unit we will be starting today. This is Not
for a Grade! I want to see what you do or do not know already. I’ll give you 30 minutes to
complete the quiz.” “Did everyone have enough time to finish the quiz?” “Okay, I need you to
trade papers with your classmate two seats to the right and let’s grade these papers
together. As we go through the answers please mark an X on the questions that are wrong and
provide the right answer for your classmate. Please pass the quizzes back to the owner so the
owner can review how they did. Let’s pass them up to the front to me. I want to make a note of
your scores. At the end of this unit we will re-take this quiz and you will be able to see how
much you have learned over these next 7 days of lesson on framework 7.1! I will give them back
to you tomorrow in class. You will be able to use these as a study guide as well.”

words. Be sure you are writing down the next to the definition as we discuss them.”

about any of these vocabulary words?” “We will spend time on each of these terms throughout
this unit.”
“I’m going to count out 5 different groups, 1,2,3,4,5,1,2,3,4,5 etc. Find the other classmates with
your same number. I’m giving you 1 minute on the timer for one of the students in your group to
write down as many fun activities or active games that you remember from your school age
years. (no video games).”
“Now, I want each group to act out their best example of a game. You can have one group
member narrate or just explain the instructions.”

“To wrap up class today, ___________ & ________________ are handing out emoji exit slips.
Quickly circle the emoji that describes how you feel about today’s lesson. Also write one
sentence about the lesson that was your biggest take away.” I will take them from you as you
leave the classroom today. Tomorrow we will be continuing to learn more about school age

Period 2: For 6 ELL students I will grade for content not grammar or spelling, allow them to
work with a peer, and give extra time or reduce assignment. For my 2 SPED students I will give
a copy of the notes and presentation, check for understanding, and reduce assignments and or
give additional time.

Period 7: For 8 ELL I will grade for content not grammar or spelling, allow them to work with a
peer, and give extra time or reduce assignment. For my 4 SPED students I will give a copy of
the notes and presentation, check for understanding, and reduce assignments and or give
additional time.

Period 8: For 10 ELL students I will grade for content not grammar or spelling, allow them to
work with a peer, and give extra time or reduce assignment. For my 5 SPED students I will give
a copy of the notes and presentation, check for understanding, and reduce assignments and or
give additional time.
