Before taking EDT 180 I thought I knew everything in regards to using a computer and its
applications. So I decided to take the class thinking it would be a piece of cake. But to my
surprise, it was not. At first everything seemed like common sense with the Netiquette article but
as time went on I realized how much I didn’t know. I learned cool new techniques to Internet
privacy, as well as how to create a spreadsheet on Excel. I can go on and on about all the new
things I learned throughout the semester. There were many challenges along the way, such as
Photoshop. I know it might seem silly but photo shopping an image and creating a monthly
I really do believe that taking this class or anything similar can be extremely useful in college,
work, and in everyday life. For instance, there are small little steps and techniques that help you
in the long run whether it’s for personal reasons or work related material. I can know create a
spreadsheet and create different charts to calculate pretty much anything I desire. I was able to
create my own portfolio which I never thought I would ever need. Another interesting thing I
learned was how to Code. Funny thing is that I actually have a cousin who works in coding for a
company that I can’t quite remember the name of but I always used to thing coding was
extremely hard until I was introduced to the Hour of code. Although I know that was really just
to understand it a bit more it was crazy how much I didn’t know about coding. Literally anyone
can get into coding and have a computer do want you want.

Overall, my experience has been great in class. Although sometimes working with new
applications and their uses can be tricky, the assignments have been pretty easy to follow and
very informative. I would highly recommend anyone to take this course whether young or old,
being able to know the basics of the Internet and the applications such as Excel. Photoshop,
Publisher, Word, etc. can be very beneficial to you. Even learning the little tricks and short cuts
here and there. For instance, I had no idea in how to create a spreadsheet; honestly I didn’t even
know what it was until we went over Excel. But now that I’m aware of what it is and how it can
be used, I can get opportunities in a job that requires background knowledge in Excel. All in all I
