 Asset management, lower  Streamlined productivity

initiatives.

 Power quality monitoring – power factor, harmonics.
Importance of Accurate and Reliable Measuring Devices

Old computer adage: “Garbage in, Garbage out”

Today’s high performance green buildings require accurate and reliable field
measuring devices for:
 Performance tracking – energy and water utilization, system performance
metrics
 Precise control of essential M&E systems
 Enhancement of indoor environment
Robust Instrumentation and Controllers

Robust field sensors and controllers are critical in maintaining

system integrity, superior building performance, energy
efficiency and safety.
Consider the use of precision, long-lasting industrial-grade
transmitters and fail-safe, hot-redundant PLCs.

Tracking of Performance Metrics Through IBMS

 Chiller efficiency (KW/ton or COP)

 Plant efficiency (KW/ton or COP)
 Wire-to-water efficiency (%)
 Flow Economy (gpm/kW)
 Measured plant load (tons and ton-hrs)
 Temperature (ºC) and water flows (l/s)
Benefits of using Transmitters

A transmitter is a signal conditioner.

It accepts a low-level input signal from a
sensor, a millivolt signal from a thermocouple
or a resistance signal from an RTD (Pt 100), and
provides an output signal that is directly
proportional to the input signal.
Most transmitters provide a current output
signal (generally 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 20 mA
signal) rather than a voltage signal.
Conversion to current signal virtually eliminates
any interference from line noise and allows
accurate transmission over relatively long
distances using ordinary uncompensated
copper wires.
Advantages of Temp Transmitters over Temp Sensors

Better Accuracy and Repeatability

Majority of temperature measurement error is inherent
to the temperature sensor (RTD, thermocouple, etc..) and
not to the signal communications equipment (i.e.
transmitter, PLC, or DCS input card).
Today’s advanced temperature transmitters are able to
eliminate the majority of this temperature sensor error by
utilizing Transmitter-Sensor Matching.
First, an RTD’s precise resistance versus temperature
relationship is determined by sensor calibration. Next, the
resultant sensor calibration information is “matched" to a
device enabled with Transmitter-Sensor Matching by
loading it onto the transmitter’s internal memory.
As a result, the transmitter is able to process the sensor’s
resistance information and calculate the exact
temperature of the process, thereby eliminating the bulk
of the sensor’s error.

Displacement Cooling and Radiant Floor Cooling Application

Displacement cooling air outlets are shown in yellow

Radiant Floor Cooling (600 kilometres of cross-link polyethylene pipes) directly removes
radiation striking the floor.
An Air Displacement System (1,500 sets of specially designed displacement diffusers), with
controllable air stream supplying cool air to the space at floor level and at low velocity.
Because cool air is heavier than warm air, thermal stratification occurs in the building,
supported by the radiant floor cooling. The air-conditioned zone extends only 2.50 m
above floor level. In the higher levels the air is near ambient temperature; therefore, it is
not necessary to insulate this part of the envelope. Due to thermal air stratification, this
has no influence on the conditioned, inhabited spaces below.

Enhancing Indoor Environment Quality

It is not only desirable, but also a fundamental human right to

live and work in spaces with healthy indoor environments.
Buildings enhance people’s lives when they permit ample air
circulation, maintain clean air and comfortable temperatures,
and allow individuals to have a sense of control over their own
indoor experience.

applied on cooling coils, walls, ceilings, floor carpets, curtains, toilet
walls, exterior building façade, etc. and all kinds of surfaces to form
an invisible film.
The film can work all day to decompose all kinds of micro-organic
matters like bacteria, viruses, mould and pollutants like
formaldehyde, benzene, xylene, ammonia and VOC's as well as
offending odours.
