When you are preparing your lesson please use personal examples as well as illustrations
that will enhance your message and get the point across to the students. Read the class
objectives and prepare to answer and minister to the students accordingly. This is not a
Sunday school but a class that brings healing, deliverance, ministry to their needs and
instruction while casting vision for their personal and ministerial lives.
V. LESSON: BUILDING THE LOCAL CHURCH (A HEART FOR GOD’S HOUSE)
The local church is the first institution that our Lord, Jesus Christ has established upon this
earth.
Jesus expressed His passion when He spoke to His disciples about building His church.
We are God’s living temple in which He is building upon the foundation of Jesus who is
the living cornerstone.
The bible says that David had a heart after God (Acts 13:22). He was grateful for what
the Lord has done for him personally, for his family, and for his country.
3Nathan replied to the king, “Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the
LORD is with you.”
5 “Go and tell my servant David, “This is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build
me a house to dwell in? 6 I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the
Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent
as my dwelling. 7 Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of
their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, “Why have you not built
me a house of cedar?” ‘
David heard the request of the Lord and wanted to do something great for Him! A
grateful heart will always respond with an outpouring of love, support, and dedication to
the one who had come to their aid.
David had a grateful heart. His desire was to fulfill God’s request.
David had it in his heart to build a house for the Lord, the God of Israel.
**Do you have it in your heart to build a house for the name of the Lord our God?
**Do you have the same passion to build the house of the Lord as David did?
David did well because it was in his heart to build a house for the Lord!
God told Solomon a second time talking about the “Old Testament House” (The
Temple).
This is what the Lord says about His house! The church is His house! We are the
church!
G. Five (5) goals of every believer who’s committed to “build God’s magnificent
house.”
