A WATER SCALE SOLVENT SAFE FOR ALUMINUM
Alimex is a water-based chemical formulated to safely clean lime scale and corrosion
from water-wetted surfaces. It contains wetting agents, corrosion inhibitors and
degreasing compounds to help penetrate and carry away the scale and corrosion. This
product is specifically designed to be used on equipment that contains aluminum that
cannot be safely cleaned with other scale removing compounds.

When used as directed, Alimex is non-corrosive and will not affect the following met-
als: aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, admiralty metal, copper, iron, lead,
P.O. Box 131359 • Tyler, Texas 75713, Phone 903.534.8021 • Fax 903.581.4376

PVC plastic, polyethylene, rubber, leather, and most other materials found in water-
wetted equipment. Alimex is not recommended for zinc, galvanized steel, or alloys of
magnesium.

This product is non-toxic, non-corrosive, and non-flammable when used as directed.

It is biodegradable and can be safely put to the sewer in the spent condition.

Alimex has a built-in indicator which changes color when the solution is 95+ percent

spent. When the solution begins to turn blue, it should be added to or changed if the
equipment is not clean.

DIRECTIONS
Alimex is designed to be used at ambient temperatures above 35ºF. It is most effec-
tive when circulated through the equipment to be cleaned. When possible, circulation
should be up-flow. Alimex can also be used by filling the equipment to be cleaned and
allowing it to set until the scale disappears. When cleaning exposed surfaces (such as
fin fan coolers), Alimex should be periodically sprayed on the surface until the scale
disappears. In all cases, fresh water should be used to rinse the clean surface free of
Alimex. The cleaning operation normally takes two to six hours. The equipment
should be vented at all times since carbon dioxide (CO2) gas evolves during the disas-
sociation of lime scale.

When the cleaning process is complete, the system should be completely drained and
flushed with fresh water.

METHOD OF APPLICATION
Alimex solution is most effectively used by circulating it through the equipment to be cleaned.
When possible, circulation should be up flow. The equipment should be vented at all times
since carbon dioxide (CO2) gas is liberated from the disassociation of the lime scale.

AU-46 is a silicone-based fluid designed for use in rotary
screw compressors. AU-46 does not break down
under normal operating temperatures and pressures thereby
eliminating carbon deposits, sludge and varnish formations.
P.O. Box 131359 • Tyler, CR 2120, Texas 75713, Phone 903.534.8021 • Fax 903.581.4376

The system stays clean of lubricant by-products resulting in

lower maintenance costs. The high viscosity index insures
a minimum change in viscosity over the compressor's
temperature range. AU-46 has excellent water separation,
corrosion protection and lubricity characteristics.

Product Data Sheet
®

Summit DSL ® synthetic lubricants are unique combinations of quality diester base
stocks and the latest additive technology.

Summit provides a wide range of DSL® lubricants that cover applications for rotary vane,
rotary screw, and all ages and design types of reciprocating
compressors.

Summit DSL ® lubricants are especially noted for the following benefits:
•Low temperature fluidity
•Better thermal conductivity-reduces operating temperature
•Reduced friction – approximately 20% lower coefficient of friction.
•High temperature thermal stability will not disassociate under thermal stress.
•Greater resistance to mechanical stress will not shear under heavy loads or extreme stress.
•Reduced metal-to-metal wear-polar properties provided better metal wetting
•Better demulsibility characteristics-moisture separates readily, providing better rust and
corrosion protection.
•More energy efficiency.

These lubricants are designed for use in the crankcase and as a cylinder lubricant. They are
compatible with almost all elastomers used in compressors and pumps, including paint used
in crankcases.

COMPATIBILITY:
The following materials are compatible for use with DSL® lubricants:
Epoxy Paint, Celcon, Viton®, High Nitrile Rubber (Buna N, NBR-greater than 36%

LCG Series
Summit LCG Series are specially formulated compressor lubricants designed to be inert
to reactive and corrosive gases encountered in landfills, refineries, EOR and chemical
process plants. LCG Series is based on 100 % pure synthetic PAO. It’s extremely low
vapor pressure results in minimal carryover past the separator. It does not contain sulfur
or other impurities associated with petroleum based products that might react with the
acids, chlorinated compounds or sour gases found in various applications. PAOs are
fully saturated compounds and do not contain the alkenes or aromatics found in group I,
II or even the group III mineral oils touted as being "pure." LCG Series is ester free and

ronments. LCG Series is suitable for use in certain chloride containing environments
where the use of mineral oil, esters or synthetic polyglycols (PAGs) are not permitted.
Lubricants that are reactive with a gas stream may form by-products that are harmful to
equipment or the environment. Solids may form and cause fouling or plugging issues in
certain applications.
Summit LCG Series will protect oil wetted parts against the corrosive effects of common
acids and water. It is engineered with superior technology to inhibit the effects of sour
gases such as hydrogen sulfide or carbon dioxide on metal surfaces found within the oil
wetted parts of a compressor.
Summit LCG Series is designed to result in longer fluid and equipment life for rotating
compressors in corrosive and reactive environments. Please consult with a Summit

Tough on Concrete & Mineral Deposits

Cement in its various forms, is one of the primary construction materials of the
modern world. It is used in things we see and use every day. We drive on it, we
construct buildings with it, we dam rivers with it, and we even make boats with
it. Cement is a very versatile material.

The lubricant problems generally encountered with the compression of natural gas
and CO2 are related to the reaction of the gas stream with the lubricant. These
include:
• Solubility of gas in the lubricant causes reduced lubricant viscosity resulting in
cylinder scoring and high wear rates. Compensating for this with a higher
viscosity lubricant can cause handling problems at lower temperatures.
• Absorption of lubricant into the gas stream results in high lubricant usage rates
and a depletion of protective lubricant film in the cylinder.
• Condensed hydrocarbon liquids in the cylinder area can "wash" the lubricant from
the cylinder walls causing severe mechanical damage.
P.O. Box 131359 • Tyler, Texas 75713, Phone 903.534.8021 • Fax 903.581.4376

• The carryover from increased lubricant feed rates or use of heavily compounded
oils to compensate for hydrocarbon and CO2 dilution and wash-out can damage
the well formation and plug CO2 injectors.
• Gases such as CO2 and H2S may be corrosive to compressor components. NGL
protects against the corrosive effect of these gases to compressor components
while maintaining lubricating properties.

Summit NGL Series polyalkylene glycol lubricants were formulated to

combat these problems associated with high pressure reciprocating compres-
sors pumping natural gas, carbon dioxide, or process gases. NGL Series
January 27, 2011

lubricants are extremely resistant to hydrocarbon and CO2 dilution and

absorption of the gas stream components. Any lubricant carryover will not
impair the well formation as it is compatible with well-bore treatment fluids
and soluble in water. The result is a lubricant maintaining the proper viscosi-
ty for wear protection, resisting wash-out and carryover, and posing no threat of
damage to the well formation or CO2 injectors.
The extremely high viscosity index of the NGL Series lubricants allows
protection over a broad temperature range. The low pour point provides all-
season ease of handling even in very cold climates. The use of pressurized and
heated tanks as well as heat traced lines can be eliminated.
Summit NGL Series can offer these same advantages when com-
pressing a number of other difficult gases including hydrogen, helium and
nitrogen. Please contact your Summit representative with your specific
gas application.

When a synthetic oil is not needed, Summit’s NGP 220 of highly refined petroleum
based lubricants are formulated to provide some of the same benefits provided by
hydrocarbon based synthetics such as PAO and PIB. The additive technology used
in the NGP Series enable them to far outperform other mineral oil based lubricants.
Some of the benefits are:
• The high viscosity index (V.I.) of NGP 220 is comparable to a synthetic PAO and
means a significant increase in operating temperature range over most mineral
based oils. It also means a lower viscosity grade NGP 220 product may be used

in place of a higher viscosity mineral oil with a lower viscosity index. This can
mean lower temperature flow limits and may eliminate the need for heated, pres
surized day tanks and heat traced lines. It can also mean better lubricant film
strength at higher cylinder and packing temperatures on reciprocating compressors.
• The pour point of the NGP 220 approaches that of a synthetic PAO and may be as
much as 25 ºF lower than some mineral based oils. The lower limit may eliminate no
flow shutdowns on cold days or the need for special tank and line heaters.
• NGP 220 is made from highly purified petroleum oils that only contain trace
amounts of sulfur and other impurities found in group I mineral oils. Impurities
common to many mineral oil base stocks can react with components of the gas
stream to form by-products harmful to the compressor system.

SRO SERIES
Product Data Sheet GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Summit SRO Series was developed to overcome many of
the shortcomings of most POE-based formulations which include
hygroscopicity, lack of wear protection, viscosity dilution and
chemical instability in the presence of moisture. The SRO Series
is a full synthetic formulation based on POE-Polyolester base
oils for optimum mutual solubility and oil return assurances.
The SRO Series is formulated for environmentally friendlier
refrigerant gases including HFCs like R134a, among others, in
industrial and commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and
chiller applications. To minimize additive compatibility issues,
the SRO Series should not be mixed with more than 5% of the
previous POE oil. SRO Series is not designed for ammonia
refrigeration due to its reactivity with R717. It is compatible
with all paints, plastics and elastomers used in this application.
As with all specialty lubricants, indoor storage in original
containers and immediate closing of same after dispensing should
minimize moisture and particulate contamination. When in
doubt as to the suitability for your particular application,
please consult the factory or your local Summit distributor.

SYNGEAR® SH ®-1000 SERIES

Product Data Sheet GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Summit Syngear® SH®-1000 Series gear lubricants are formulated with
synthetic base stocks and fortified with select additive systems to enhance their
exceptional performance. The PAO base fluid used has outstanding oxidation
and thermal stability, naturally high viscosity index and excellent low
temperature pumpability and fluidity. The unique additive system used
provides increased oxidation stability, extreme pressure properties, and
maximum protection against wear, rust, corrosion and foaming.

In today's world of efficiency improvements, there has been much emphasis

placed on reducing energy requirements for equipment used in plant operations.
Summit Syngear® synthetic gear lubricants have proven to reduce friction, there-
by reducing the input power to operate the equipment or increasing the available
power output. The reduction of fluid friction results in lower lubricant operating
temperatures, prolonging the life of both the lubricant and the equipment. The
additive system used in this product not only reduces frictional drag, but also
protects gears against failures associated with heavy loading and meets the
requirements of U.S. Steel 224 specification, AGMA 9005-D94 specification, DIN
51517 Part 3 CLP specification and API GL-4 Gear Service Category.

APPLICATION
Summit Syngear® SH®-1000 Series gear lubricants are recommended for use in
all types of enclosed gearing as well as plain and rolling element bearings.
These lubricants are ideal for heavily loaded low speed gears and bearings
where boundary or elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) conditions exist,
such as in mine hoist gear reducers. They are particularly recommended for
gearboxes which operate under excessively high temperatures where good quality
conventional oils rapidly oxidize. Summit Syngear® SH®-1000 Series gear lubricants
may also be used in certain open gear applications, but it is recommended that
Summit lubrication engineers be consulted to select the most effective method
of application. Summit Syngear SH®-10032, SH®-10046 and SH®-10068 are also
recommended or use in piston or gear-type pumps, expecially where pressures
exceed 1000 psi or when operating over a wide temperature range.

Summit Syngear® SH®-1000 Series gear lubricants are compatible with most
seal materials, paints and plastics, including nitrile Buna N, neoprene, viton,
teflon, polyethylene, polyurethane ether, fluorocarbon, polyacrylate,
polysulfide, ethylene acrylic, epoxy, plastisol, PVC, acrylic paint and lacquer.

SYNGEAR® SH ®-7000 SERIES

Product Data Sheet GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Summit Syngear ® SH ®-7000 Series synthetic gear lubricants are
formulated using synthesized hydrocarbon fluid and select additives to
enhance oxidation resistance and provide maximum protection
against wear, rust, corrosion and foaming. These PAO based fluids
provide significantly better thermal and oxidation stability, as well as
increased protection against the loss of viscosity than do conventional
good quality mineral oils. The inherently high viscosity index of these
oils provides higher viscosities and therefore greater film thickness at
higher temperatures and lower viscosities for easy start-up and mini-
mal internal friction at lower temperatures. The low coefficient of
friction of the Summit Syngear ® SH ®-7000 Series lubricants sub-
stantially reduces power consumption and gearbox operating tempera-
ture, further prolonging the useful life of the lubricant.

APPLICATION
Summit Syngear ® SH ®-7000 Series lubricants are recommended
for use under severe high or low temperature conditions when lubricating
industrial enclosed gears and heavily loaded plain or rolling element
bearings. They are particularly recommended for applications where
high oil temperatures result in short oil life or high maintenance costs.
Summit Syngear® SH®-7032, SH®-7046 and SH®-7068 may be used in
piston or gear type pumps, expecially where pressures exceed 1000
psi or when operating over a wide temperature range. Use Summit
Syngear® SH®-7032 through Syngear® SH®-71000 for applications
where the corrosion of yellow metals is a concern, as these lubricants do
not contain additives which tend to attack metals such as brass, bronze or
copper.
The Summit Syngear® SH®-7000 Series lubricants are compatible with
essentially all seal materials, plastics and paints, including nitrile Buna N,
neoprene, viton, teflon, polyethylene, polyurethane ether, fluorocarbon,
polyacrylate, polysulfate, ethylene acrylic, epoxy, plastisol, PVC,
acrylic paint and lacquer.

compared to that of conventional mineral oils and provides the
following money saving benefits:
•Improved rust and oxidation protection versus general or multi-purpose
R&O circulation oils.
•Reduced lubricant consumption - Extended drain intervals and lower
vapor pressures reduce lubricant consumption.
•Reduced maintenance - SYNTHOLATE reduces carbon and
varnish formation thus extending valve life and the time interval
between overhauls.
•Eliminates recompression - SYNTHOLATE keeps the valves clean
and eliminates the primary cause of recompression.
May 1, 2012

•Reduced power consumption - Elimination of recompression and

reduced coefficient of friction result in less power consumption per
unit of compression.
•Improved safety - Higher flash points provide a greater margin of
safety in air compression.

The use of petroleum lubricants, mainly automatic transmission
fluid (ATF), in rotary screw compressors, rotary vane compressors
and other high temperature equipment, results in varnish and
carbon formation. The varnish and carbon deposited throughout
P.O. Box 131359 • Tyler, CR 2120, Texas 75713, Phone 903.534.8021 • Fax 903.581.4376

the equipment can cause many serious operational problems,

resulting in excessively high maintenance costs.

Varnasolv can help reduce the problems caused by varnish and

carbon. Varnasolv should be added to the existing lubricant to
remove and suspend varnish while the equipment is running.
Using Varnasolv eliminates the need for disassembling the
September 20, 2011

equipment for cleaning. For maximum benefit, use Varnasolv

before each lubricant change. Varnasolv is NSF Registered
HX-2

Additonal applications for Varnasolv include cleaning

hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and high temperature chains.
Varnasolv can also be used for cleaning Heat Transfer systems
with temperatures up to 400°F.

HOW TO USE VARNASOLV

Cleaning Hydrocarbon Deposits from Equipment

Initial Clean-Out Method

Add one gallon of Varnasolv concentrate to each ten gallons of oil

in the unit, first draining enough oil to allow adding the Varnasolv.
Continue to run the equipment for 20 to 40 hours, allowing the
treated oil to disperse and suspend the varnish. To avoid re-
depositing the suspended contaminants, drain the oil while warm
and replace filters. Refill with new oil.

Packing: Varnasolv is available in cases (six gallons), five gallon

pails or 55 gallon drums.

removed. If installed, check oil filters and change after
the cleaning procedure. A thorough periodic cleaning
of the gearbox lubricating system before a scheduled oil
change ensures peak lubricant performance and restores
the system to like-new condition.

Summit’s Wind Turbine Cleaner is compatible with all

commonly used lubricants, mineral or synthetic; and, all
common elastomers, paints and plastics. Please consult
