MASTERFLEX TAPES, WHEN USED TO PROTECT JOINTS ABOVE AND

BELOW WATER IN NON-TRAFFICKED AREAS

MASTERFLEX TAPES
USED TO PROTECT JOINTS ABOVE AND BELOW WATER IN NON-
TRAFFICKED AREAS

1. PREPARATION:
1.1. The surface on either side of the joint should have all laitance, weak or friable
concrete removed.
1.2. Remove any contaminants such as oil, grease etc. that could impair adhesion.
1.3. The preparation should cover the full width and length of the tape to be applied.

2. APPLICATION:
2.1. Cut the MASTERFLEX TAPES to the required length. Where joints occur
allow a 10cm overlap for bonding.
2.2. To form a joint overlap the tape by 10cm, remove the blue tape at the overlap,
then use a hot air welder to weld them together. Alternatively, wipe the two
surfaces to be joined with SOLVENT NO. 2 and while still damp, clamp the
pieces together and leave for 30 minutes.
2.3. Use CONCRESIVE 2200 epoxy adhesive paste for bonding the tape to the
substrate.
2.4. Mix the A and B components together until a uniform streak free colour is
obtained.
2.5. Using a trowel or spatula scrape the CONCRESIVE 2200 tightly into the
substrate to give a good bond, then build up a layer of a thickness that will allow
the tape to be pressed into the adhesive without contacting the substrate.
2.6. Wipe the bottom and top of the tape clean, using a clean cloth that is damp with
SOLVENT NO. 2.
NOTE: The top of the tape has the blue tape showing.
2.7. Press the tape into the CONCRESIVE 2200 making sure that paste oozes
through the perforations.
2.8. Apply a 2-3mm layer of CONCRESIVE 2200 over the top of the tape up to the
blue cover strip and allow to stiffen.
2.9. Before the CONCRESIVE 2200 sets hard, remove the blue strip from the top of
the tape.
2.10. Allow to cure.
