Introduction

The main reason of this research is to discuss a historical tourism in Japan , a famous

country for people who love history . History always make people curious , stimulate a

inquiry of human , that the reason why Historical tourism was created , to help people to

improve their knowledge about history , a difficult subject , not easy to remember

everything following a history event , it’s very boring on the book but to let people to see

them in a real life are much easier. There are so many ways that tourists can have a new

experience acurated about Japanese Historical without wasting too much money . A visit to

a pagoda , castle , palace , or temple would supply a great insight into Japan ‘s history and

the development of Japan . Historical tourism are very popular not only in Japan but also

all over the world , people often choose Japan for their research , some of them just want to

improve their knowledge about history . Japan have so many ancients castle , pagodas , and

extraordinary museums . However , Japan have to face with some issue that influence

directly to their own historical tourism industry .

1. Development of Japan :

Historical tourism of Japan are very famous , the Japan’s government want a whole world

to know about their country so they builded their country to impressed the world ,

advertising the country , improve their transportation to served a tourist. They focused on

the development on the industry , and Tourism are one of a development strategy of the

government . Go to Japan tourist have a chance to explore a whole country just in two
weeks . They have also a traditional style hotel for the people want to try a feeling to

become a Japanese for once , with a tourist travel by their own , not follow a tour ,they can

go to a budget hotel with a cheap price .

The government of Japan also allow improving a transportation . Japan are very famous

and impress the world with their transportation , they have bullet train , people also use

this to travel a whole historical places in Japan with a high speed . With people who want to

stay for a few day and visit a whole historical in one place , can use local train to travel

around a city . Also Japan is the first country in Asia open a long flight to South America ,

showed a determination to make an impact on the worldwide . For a people who follow a

group to visit a history places , they can chose a highway bus , with this transportation ,

tourist can travel a whole Japan , visit every history places in Japan only in two weeks .

2. Japanese Issues

I.Natural Disaster :

Japan are already making their influence about historical tourism but they have a difficult

issues to solve . Japan is a country with a huge number of calamity in the world , it is also

home of volcanoes. Because of that , every year Japan have to face so many earthquake ,

typhoon , espcecially tsunami . But earthquake are the main threat of destruction . On

March 11 , 2011 , a strong e arthquake happened in north-east coast of Japan were

damaged by this earthquake , so many people and building are destroy , more than 700

national landmarks located in Tohoku and Kanto , many other traditional and history

buildings were destroyed , even though a historical architecture of Japan are created to

deal with earthquake , but with these disaster the power of earthquake and tsunami are
very strong that so many historic buildings are suffered a huge damage , partial or

completely destroyed , among the historic buildings destructed , unfortunately a temple

named Tenyuji , from the eighteen century was destroyed . This is a difficult issue of the

government and they still cannot find a solution for this problem . They still cannot find a

best way to protect their historical places in front of disaster , because the historical ae very

old , it’s easy to destroy . The temporary solution is reinforced a historical places against

disaster .

II. Environmental Pollution :

Another issue , Japan is an industry country , specially manufacturing and electronics , they

have so many famous trademarks in the world . But they have to accepted that they are

destroying their own environment , and also a monuments of history . Japan are very

famous about metallurgical specially ferrous , these factory creating acid rain , a main

reason of destruction . A structures of a historic buildings are very weak , acid will easily

corrosive everything , making a bad effect for not only historical tourism but also every

kind of tourism industry of Japan . Nuclear can be one of the issue for Japan , it’s dose not

affected on a history places but it’s make tourists do not want to come because they are

afraid for their health . The nuclear problem making tourist have a bad feeling to visiting

Japan .

III.New Cultural :

In recent year , people are more intersted in a new culture of Japan than a history of this

country , this is a development of Japan about a modern culture but an old culture are

decrease . Japan are very famous with one new style call “Manga” , teenagers and even the
adult person are very excited in this movement . On the street , at the shopping mall ,

bookstore , etc … , “manga style” are everywhere in Japan . It’s become very famous not

only in Asia but also all over the world . One example for this culture : a new fashion , a new

game for teenagers from all over the world call “ Cosplay “ became a phenomenon . Because

of that , when people talking each other about Japan , they also talk about this movement ,

they don’t really care about the history of Japan , even the purpose they came to Japan is to

see this style . This is a problem for other Japanese tourism not just Historical Tourism

because of the new culture of a country .

IV.Objective Reason :

Some objective reason that making people do not like to go to Japan . Firstly , English won’t

work in Japan , this is the most disadvantage to visit this country , people have to speak

slowly and use the body languge to have a conversation when they got lost , tourist are very

disappointed with these disadvantage when they visit Japan , because they can not ask the

local people about a historical place to came . Secondly , people easy to get lost even when

they have a map , because most of Japan city are divided into groups with name and

numbers and the street are very confusion , backpacking tourist who came to Japan for the

first time always have a difficult to facing this problem . All two reason are making Japan

losing their tourists , making a bad influence for the whole tourism of Japan not just

historical tourism , people when they finished their trip in Japan always complain about

these two reason .

3. Overcome :

Although suffering a lot of weather disaster , but Japan always know how to stand up and

rise above disaster , when everthing are destructive , they rebuilds that back and fine the

solutions to solve the problem . Japanese government know how to keep the country

developing . After all a disasters , the number of tourists has been increase . The statistics

from December 2011 , the number of tourists just decrease for 11% that month from the

previous year – it mean the number of tourists just drop 60% straightway following the

earthquake . About the nuclear , this is the first question of most visitors for their own

safety to visit this country . After a disaster in 2011 , the world are very shock when they

knew the nuclear power factory Fukushima are suffer a damage from the tsunami , the

radiation increase around the factory for very long radius until now it still exist causing an

insecurity for tourists who visit Japan . This is still a problem and the challenges for

Japanese government because it directly affected to the tourism industry .

In conclusion , Japan really become a country that people have to be there at once , this is a

good place for people who want to improve their knowledge about history , for scientists to

research .This is a country with a huge historical , every places belong to history had the

age of thousand year . Japan are always development to attract tourists , they have so many

kind of service for tourists not only tourists following tour but also backpacking tourists

who want to initiative by themselves . Additionally , Japan have a festival every year , to
show a different between cultural and traditional . But Japan should find the best solution

to solve their currently issues , it will slow a devolopment of tourism , not only historical

tourism but also a whole tourism industry of Japan . Their problem is how to deal with

natural disaster , the issues with their manufacturing to develop the tourism industry .
