Designed by Makenna Stergion, this Public Service Announcement will be published

world wide March 1, 2019 on internet advertisements stressing the need for awareness and

support on the American alcohol abuse epidemic. Including two essential points from Gabrielle

Glaser’s article, “America, Can We Talk About Your Drinking?”, the text used in the PSA sums

up the article’s plea to stop alcohol abuse. The PSA is very credible with information cited from

author Glaser who is well-researched on alcohol abuse. Stergion designed this PSA to encourage

the audience to either stop or seek assistance in their drinking habits. With compelling text and a

reference for help from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the

audience is offered help if they notice alcoholic symptoms in themselves. The PSA is made for

American college students and adults to inform them of the themseir alcohol patterns and the

need for change.

The most valuable part of this PSA is its attention towards the harmful consequences of

drinking in the headlining quote. This text helps the audience understand the danger in drinking

and almost scares them into wanting to save themselves from ending up dead from drinking.

With information regarding deaths from drinking, viewers of the PSA are already less inclined to

drink. I like the color scheme of PSA because it creates a melancholy serious vibe for the topic

with grays, whites, and blacks. Because the PSA includes valuable information regarding alcohol

abuse, the audience will find the strength in the PSA’s quotes from Glaser’s article. I would add

more information to the PSA in my own words instead of only including quotes to refine the

PSA.
