POSITION DESCRIPTION STATEMENT (PDS)

TITLE: Principal Engineer - Global Electronics Hardware

REPORTING TO: Director Engineering
LOCATION: Mumbai, India

Purpose of Position – Built & sustain team of HW leads, HW engineers to Design & Develop hardware products. Roll
them out for alpha, beta & mass production with zero defects and within estimated cost. Identify potential defects due to
design & manufacturing. Engage with global hardware resoures for optimizing resources with effective multiple hardware
development programs. Coordinate with Purchase, Manufacturing and Suppliers for desired delivery.

Key Responsibilities
 Manage team of 20+ team comprising of hardware leads, hardware engineers located in India, UK, SK, NA.
 Manage multiple design programs with local and global requirements.
 Guiding teams for prepare functional Specifications, project plans, schematics, design reports, PCB design.
 Monitor each milestone in HW design phase (design, proto, schematics, PCB design, trials)
 Plan & Coordinate testing & Product certification from External Laboratory as per local and global norms.
 Support for Production & Service issues for all markets.
 Drive cost optimization (Value engineering) programs across all products
 Organize production releases and quality documentation.
 Interact with CFT within GVR for release & optimize change tracking process.

Measures of Performance
 QDC performance on multiple programs
 Cost optimization
 Quality of support functions for global markets/ peer groups
 Accuracy & through put time on open design issues and resolution

Background and Skill

 Must be a leader with hand-on experience as HW lead managing teams of 15+ technical resources.
 Worked on at least 3 global programs in industrial environment
 In depth knowledge of hardware design process at each phases from requirement capture, design,
schematic, layout, proto, trials, launch
 Exposed to quality tools such as six sigma, FMEA, fishbone, root cause analysis
 Worked extensively in micro controller based industrial products – at least 3 products for entire life cycle.
 Exposed in design of associated circuits to micro controller - displays, power supply (linear, SMPS), sensors
 Extensively used design tools CAD tools like Orcad, Pads2007.
 Aware of DFM / DFT & practiced same in current role.
 Champion in EMI-EMC, Safety & Environmental Testing. Worked with EMC compliance, electrical safety,
environmental norms for global markets
 Knowledge of communications systems on HW level. I2C, LON, RS485, current loop, CAN etc and it’s design
requirements with applicable standards
 Experience: 12+ years Electronics HW Product Engineering (preferred worked with MNC on global products)
 Education: Degree in Electronics/Electronics & Communications (reputed engineering institutes)
