PSYCHOANALYTIC THEORY
Contribution to science and technology
a. Thee Unconscious mind & thee psyche
Thee Unconscious mind
The Interpretation of Dreams was a strong early work of Freud and the foremost important contribution
Freud has created to modern thought is his conception of the unconscious.
He urged that we tend to don't seem to be entirely tuned in to what we expect and infrequently act for
reasons that have very little to try and do with our conscious thoughts. The conception of the unconscious
was ground breaking since he proposed that awareness existed in layers which there have been thoughts
occurring "below the surface." Dreams that he known as the "royal road to the unconscious", provided the
simplest access to our unconscious life and therefore the best illustration of its "logic.´ While these
thoughts, recollections, and urges might be out of doors of our focus, they keep to influence the way we
suppose to act and behave. With that, he concluded that the ideals of one’s enlightenment, positivism, and
rationalism can be achieved through understanding, transforming, and mastering the unconscious, instead
of denying or repressing it.
Thee psyche
Freud explained how the unconscious operates. He projected that the unconscious was divided into 3 parts
which is the Id, Ego, and Superego. The Id deals with the primary method of thinking. The Superego is
about our conscience and counteracted the Id with ethical and moral thoughts. And the Ego which stands
in between each to balance our primitive wants and our moral and ethical beliefs. Freud’s claim that the
mind isn't a monolithic or homogenous factor continues to own an unlimited influence on people outside
of psychology.

Psychosexual Stages
The most controversial part of Freud’s work was his theory of psychosexual development
Freud sought to recognize the person and type of the ones illnesses through retracing the sexual history of
his sufferers. This was not the primarily study of sexual evaluations as such. What is more important and
crucial was the person’s desires, their experience of love, hate, shame, guilt and fear and the way they
handled the ones powerful feelings.
It influence the society that there were stages of development among human beings.
Oral Stage (0-1y/0) – The mouth
Anal Stage (1-3y/0) – The Anus
Latent (6-Puberty) – Little or no Sexual motivation present
Genital (Puberty-Adult) – The Penis or Vagina
Dream Analysis
He proposed that all dreams are a form of wish-fulfilment of repressed wishes or the representation of
want-achievement. These repressed wishes are desires that have been denied and ended as part of the
unconscious mind. Dreams plays an important role for the unconscious mind and it serve as valuable
clues to how the unconscious mind operates.
He influenced the society through his dreamwork. Which is said to transform the forbidden wish into a
non-threatening form that reduces one’s anxiety and allowing a person to continue to sleep. Freud stated
that a dreamwork involves the process of condensation, displacement, and secondary elaboration.
