This case study of library was given to me by Dr. Siddhi Trivedi
Madam.I’m really thankful to her for giving me this great
opportunity.

I have enclosed the name of Mr. Maheshbhai Vaghela the first

person I met in library and everyone who enters the library
meets him first as he is the one responsible to see the
admitcard of the person entering the library. He is a 4th grade
7th pass peon of the library for from last 19 years.

I’m very much thankful to Dr. Ashvinbhai Bhavsar who is

serving in the gujart university Library from last 33 years on
different posts. At present he is working as a Professional

ESTABLISHMENT AND PRESENT

The Gujarat University Library was established in 1951 with

1700 books & 170 periodicals. At Present the Library has
3,60,322 printed books, 39000 bound volumes, 31,518 refrence
books, 750 Print Periodicals including journals in various
subjects. The University Library has also subscribed more than
1,00,000 E-books in various subjects and 8500 plus E-resources
from INFLIBNET centre through UGC-INFONET Digital Library
Consortium.

Gujarat University Library is indeed at the heart of all the

activities of Gujarat University. Envisaging the thought of
this great man, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan rightly said,
"Library is the heart of an Institution"

Gujarat University has established one of Largest

University Library System across the State that indeed
plays a vital role in the acquisition and dissemination of
academic and research information to meet the present
and future needs of the University.

Special Collection
 The library has separate Reference Section with more
than 30000+ Reference & Ready Refrence sources
with thesis & Dissertation of University. There is a
special collection on Mahavir Jain Sangrah, B.R. Law
Volumes, Mahatma Gandhiji, Swami Vivekananda,
sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar &
Narendra modi.

The Library has a rich collection of more than 39000

Bound Volumes out of which some of them are of 19th
century.

Library Timings

The central library is wrking on 2nd and 4th

Satudey from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and is open
for readers through out the year except Sunday
and Public Holidays.

LIMITATIONS

 The books on Yoga are not yet available in

library and if some material is ther than it is too
in gujarati
 English material is limited for access
 More and more books on different areas
especially the on the couses going in the
university campus should be made available.

Gujarat University Libray has grown a lot with the

passing time and technology. And the management
is still trying best to grow in every aspect for
benefitting the society.
