Ache (axe,ashe,ase) and Ori for Intermediate Students

Let us review each concept and then we will combine the

two and perhaps share a perspective to consider. Ori is a
bigger concept than simply the soul, it is what
Christianity would label the soul, but it is more. Ori is
often called the divine spirit and in this concept it is
associated with Olodumare’s elder avatar, Olorun. It is
Olorun who owns the sky while Olofin who is Olodumare’s
younger avatar is focused on Earth and other planets
where life exists. Olorun is all of the skies and like his son
the rainbow he never touches earth. There are many
patakin that explain this and how Olorun became
frustrated with his servants the Orishas (irunmole) and
restricted all but a handful from his council.

Vamos a revisar cada concepto y luego vamos a

combinar los dos y tal vez compartir una perspectiva a
considerar. Ori es un concepto más grande que
simplemente el alma, es lo que el cristianismo etiquetaría
el alma, pero es más. Ori es a menudo llamado el espíritu
divino y en este concepto se asocia con el avatar mayor
de Olodumare, Olorun. Es Olorun quien posee el cielo

All mortal life forms have an Ori and fit into basic
categories and sub categories. The highest form was
formerly humans who live in Olorun’s palace when they
are between assignments and they are principal (24/7)
guides to living humans. The second tier lives in the
palace compound (but not the actual palace) when they
are not on assignment as spiritual guides to humans. The
third tier is those former humans who are in training to
become spiritual guides and they also live in the palace
compound. The fourth tier are Ori that were humans last
and are in transition to either a newborn living human or
being sent to a lesser being. Those in the fifth tier were
formerly animals. The sixth tier is reserved for plant life
and the seventh tier is for all other life forms. It is
noteworthy to mention that each tier has its own
hierarchy, for example though a tree is in the sixth tier it
has a higher standing than some animals in the fifth tier.
Generally speaking the age or life span of a living thing
relates to its stature or standing. In other words, like a
priest rank is only part of the picture, tenure or
knowledge would be two others as is iwa pele
(character). You should also note that priest do not have
special standing with Olorun or in Olorun’s palace,
compound and grounds. Why this is will become apparent
by the end of this lecture.
Todas las formas de vida mortales tienen un Ori y
encajan en categorías básicas y subcategorías. La forma
más alta era antes los seres humanos que viven en el

séptimo nivel es para todas las otras formas de vida.
Cabe mencionar que cada nivel tiene su propia jerarquía,
por ejemplo, aunque un árbol está en el sexto nivel tiene
una posición más alta que algunos animales en el quinto
nivel. En términos generales, la edad o la vida de un ser
vivo se relaciona con su estatura o posición. En otras
palabras, como un rango de sacerdote es sólo una parte
del cuadro, tenencia o conocimiento sería dos otros como
es iwa pele (carácter). También debe notar que el
sacerdote no tiene una posición especial con Olorun o en
el palacio de Olorun, compuesto y terrenos. Por qué esto
se hará evidente al final de esta conferencia
Allow me a quick tangent here to save you from asking.
The Orichas (orixa, orisa) are immortal and only mortals
have ori. Ori is not an orisha. When we use the term
Orisha it is the Lucumi definition that lumps irunmole and
Orisha together. Unlike in Nigerian IFA, humans cannot
become immortal Orisha. Lucumi does not require egbe
and Nigerians and their traditional followers could
substitute “guides” for egbe. I mentioned that only a few
Orishas have acess to Olorun they are: Eshu, Eleggua,
Iku, Obatala, Orunmila, Oya, Orun (Arun), Olokun, Oro
Ina, Ari Ina, Oduduwa and Ochoshi. Credible priests do
not chase clients…EVER. One of many reasons I prefer
Lucumi is almost half of it is free (The Dead and 2/3 of
ancestors), while in Nigerian IFA, I can’t think of one
thing that is free.

When a living thing dies, Eshu and Iku take the

remaining ori to Olorun who listens to Eshu’s recap of it’s
life and recommendation. Then Olorun looks at the ache
(axe, ashe, ase). To review the concept of ache, it is the
positive energy found in all natural things (living and
inanimate). A dead branch or shell on the beach has
ache, as does a grain of sand, snowflake, piece of rock or
stone. Ache is always positive there is no such thing as
negative ache (we call its opposite juju or negative
energy). Ache is acquirable by all living things, but is
more easily acquired when we recognize its existence and
understand its value. Ache is also transferable, usually
only the well trained and gifted wise can knowingly
transfer ache. A healer for example often has this
capability regardless of their culture or spiritual beliefs.
Ache is not faith based and in fact many scientists are
recognizing its existence.
Cuando un ser vivo muere, Eshu e Iku llevan el ori
restante a Olorun que escucha la recapitulación de Eshu
de su vida y recomendación. Entonces Olorun mira Ache
(ax, ashe, ase). Para revisar el concepto ache, es la
energía positiva que se encuentra en todas las cosas
naturales (vivas e inanimadas). Una rama muerta o

 I contend that there are two types of ache: 1)
Temporal ache that dies with the body. This is easier to
acquire for things like gifts and respect for Nature,
building a (spiritually and moral) family, love, character
and contributions to society. 2) Permanent ache that
stays with and continues on with Ori. This ache is much
more difficult to acquire and though it can be obtained
through the same things as temporal ache if we added
substantial to any of those, but also noble deeds and
discovery. For example individuals like Mandela, Marti,
Lincoln, Gandhi most likely acquired permanent ache,
great teachers, healers, and philosophers might be other
examples. One thing to consider is when we are
ascending life becomes more challenging not less and
very few ascend without setbacks.

muere con el cuerpo. Esto es más fácil de adquirir para

My focus continues to be the free aspects of Lucumi,
those who desire clients and making IFA a business I
rarely help. My odu suggest (an odu never demands) that
my road is for global education with a minor in exposing
(but not judging fraud and abuse). This is what I do like
a vocation, however my avocation and what I have
studied for years as a priest of Orun (Arun) is his role as
leader of The Dead. I study The Dead and ancestors and
how we send and receive messages through them. This
protects and empowers us and again it is almost all free
of charge in Lucumi. It is unlimited power, protection and
knowledge. All those who have received Orun are not
specialists in this aspect of Orun, some simply receive the
Orisha for protection and others have different specialties
within his sphere of influence. Ache and ire to all, Lucumi

Mi foco continúa siendo los aspectos libres de Lucumi, los

que desean a clientes y haciendo al IFA un negocio que
rara vez ayudo. Mi odu sugiere (un odu nunca demanda)
