ABSTRACT

The goal of the researchers in this study is to identify the customer

satisfaction towards the statement shirts. In this study the researchers are

wondering if the statement shirts that were produced were effective in raising

awareness and information about the endangerment of bees. The researchers

would also like to know about the expectations of the customers towards the

statement shirts. The study is both qualitative and quantitative. In this study the

researchers found out that statement shirts are common trend among the

teenagers and young adults that is why the researchers have concluded that

statement shirts would be effective in sending a message or raise awareness.

According to this study the researchers done statement shirts are effective in

spreading awareness and knowledge about the current status of animals


CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM AND IT’S BACKGROUND

Background of the Study

Insects are far more numerous than humans, it might come as surprise

to some that bees are endangered. According to US Fish and Wild Services

there are seven (7) species of yellow-faced bees that are on the list of

endangered species. (Inquirer.net, 2016). This alarming condition of bees

became the reason of the researchers to come up with an action that may help

and raise awareness to people to inform about environmental issues that bees

are currently facing.

The researchers came with a creative way to inform people about the

current situation of bees by making statement shirts that address

environmental issues how they find it effective. T-shirts are the common

clothes that every people wear and it gives comfortability when someone wear

it Statement shirts are widely known this days that is why the researchers

wants to find out if statements on T-shirts will be helpful to raise awareness

and consciousness to people.

This study seeks to investigate the customers satisfaction after

purchasing the said product and how does the product affect the perspective of

the customer and how they find it effective which aims to provide information

from the survey conducted by the researchers to identify if statement is an

effective way or not. The researchers also wanted to find out if statement shirts

can raise people’s awareness or it became a way to continue encouraging

themselves to become concern for endangered animals.


Statement of the Problem

When it comes to wearing statement shirts, it is common sense that

the person wearing it is aware of what is written on his/her clothes. The

researchers know that using this kind of shirts is indeed popular this days.

Thus, by using or giving awareness through shirts is an idea that the

researcher wants to know and how this step is effective to rise consciousness

to people.

The researchers believe that the diminishing number of bees is a

problem. This will cause many fruits and vegetables to stop growing as these

plants are in need of pollination. One of the causes for the declining number of

bees is caused by industrial agriculture, pathogens and climate change as a

result of the lack of realizations to the consequences. By selling statement

shirts, the researchers are helping raise awareness even through little things.

Therefore, the researchers wants to distinguish the customers

satisfaction in terms of price, design, level of awareness or the overall result of

the shirt. In terms of the purpose of the products, it is environmentally friendly.

The proponents would want to gather information from the respondents that

might help to identify the different factors to successfully produce a shirt and if

there will be a another way in sparking the interests of people that will meet the

expectations of the future customers of the project.


Hypothesis

1. There is a significance between statement shirts in customer

awareness.

2. Customers references about animal awareness may vary in statement

shirts and satisfy their desire in shirt.

3. Rising animal awareness through statement shirts improves the

customers buying decision.

4. Statement shirts addressing animal endangerment will increase social

awareness.

5. Statement shirts is an effective way to promote endangered animals

Scope and Delimitation

This study wants to determine the perspective of the 89 respondents

from Junior and Senior High School students of La Salle College Antipolo in

having “Statements Shirts” relating on what the happenings around them and 3

interviews from the customers. The scope area of the study is in La Salle

College Antipolo. The researchers will use questionnaire checklist and

interview guides to get the data from the respondent. The researchers limits

this study to discussing only the impact of having statement shirt to give

awareness to people and customers satisfaction after purchasing the

statement shirt. This study will discuss and identify the views and opinions of

the students of La Salle College Antipolo in terms of spreading awareness

about the endangered bees through statement shirts that are made to give

awareness to people.
Significance of the Study

The findings of this study aims to provide prior awareness and

knowledge to the students of La Salle College Antipolo. The study will help the

society and the students who are the future professional that can share their

knowledge about environmental issues in finding ways to prevent it and to

know how the present students respond to the endangerment of bees. By the

statement shirts the researchers will know how important and how well those

chosen students participated in their conducted study and identify the different

customer desire and find their level of satisfaction. The results of this study will

help the researchers as well as the environmental problem, extinction of bees.

This study is conducted to raise awareness to people that the

population of bees are in trouble. Just imagine, without bees humans would

have a series of food problems. Some 35% of crops around the world benefit

from pollinators like bees. With its absence, foods like apples, almonds,

avocados, candy beans, broccoli, and many many more, would disappear.

Cotton makes up 40% world's fibers that makes up jeans, bed sheets, t-shirts,

underwear, and more. By having this issue known to the public, people will

have the idea that the number of bees are decreasing and hopefully they would

be aware of the things they are about to do to preserve these insects.


1) Students- This study will benefit students in provide further knowledge

on what is happening in our world. Students happen to be the future

generation of professionals. In their professional level of maturity, they

would be able to share their knowledge regarding the current situation in

the diminishing number of bees. In this way, the people who have an

open mind will be able to actually do something about it.

2) Future Researchers - This study will be a great addition as a sources

of future researchers. Not only it provides knowledge, but awareness to

whoever studied it. This case is about the promotion of conserving

bees. Having the knowledge on how problems can be solved regarding

an extinction of a species, especially pollinators, is definitely important.

Future researchers are the ones who give out reliable information to

where most conservationists depend on.

3) Government - It is beneficial for the government to spread awareness

to all of the people they are governing for that is for the sake of all and

every living thing here on earth, bees may be small but to think about it

they play a big part in keeping plants pollinated. With them having

enough power they should ban using pesticides causing the decreasing

number of bees. Infact bees benefits in many ways.

4) Agriculture - This study is conducted to raise awareness to people that

the population of bees are in trouble. Just imagine, without bees

corn, wheat, and oats because these crops are pollinated by the wind.

By having this issue known to the public, people will have the idea that

the number of bees are decreasing and hopefully they would be aware

of the things they are about to do to preserve these insects.

5) Environment -We need to stop killing bees and stop destroying their

home because bees are very important to our environment because

they are the ones who pollinate the plants around us. According to

science out of 100 crop species that provide us with 90% of our food

70% are pollinated by bees, the bees are the primary initiators of

reproduction among plants.

6) Market – Customers are vital to the market. In order to for the brand to

gain loyal customers, it has to understand their desires. Making them

feel special will definitely help because winning over a customer’s heart

is irreplaceable. Another thing is to commit wholeheartedly in a way that

dedicates time and effort towards a strategy that always puts the

customers in first place.


CHAPTER II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Foreign Literature

In the United States, the only bees that have been added to the

endangered species list are seven species of Hawaiian yellow-faced bees.

Hawaiian yellow-faced bees are mostly found in Hawaii as well as the

surrounding islands. These bees can be found in a variety of habitats, which

include forests (both wet and dry), shrub landscapes, and coastlines. Declining

numbers of many different species of bees have been seen around the world,

which means that there is a real risk of additional species being classified as at

risk or endangered if something is not done. (Bennett, 2017).

The seven species – Hylaeus anthracinus, Hylaeus longiceps, Hylaeus

assimulans, Hylaeus facilis, Hylaeus hilaris, Hylaeus kuakea, and Hylaeus

mana – live in many different habitats on the Hawaiian Islands, such as

coastlines, wet and dry forests, and shrublands. But what they all have in

common is that their numbers are dwindling. "These bees require a habitat with
a diversity of plants that flower throughout the year so that a consistent source

of pollen and nectar is available," the Xerces Society reports. (Hrala, 2016).

The environment is continuing to suffer because of the inappropriate

practices of man, and why not man should make a way to prevent these

progressive destruction of the environment. “The statement shirts are basic

way of telling the world who and what you are.” According to Dennis Nothdruft.

Making statement shirts can be a way to raise awareness to the society about

environmental issues.

Beekeepers facing significant financial losses and the crop pollination

we depend on for food being threatened by the declining bee numbers,

scientists studied the problem and identified a complex culprit called Colony

Collapse Disorder (CCD). Scientists have identified several possible factors,

including agricultural chemicals, diseases, parasites and stress. The most

recent evidence suggests a combination of these factors may be the cause of

CCD. (Jongersen, 2016).

Although the number of bees are declining, there is still time to save

them. Through the changes being implemented to protect and bolster their

numbers and the education concerning bees and their importance to the

environment, bees have a fighting chance to survive the hurdles being

encountered due to climate change. (Bennett, 2017). This study will encourage

the people to be aware and make them feel that human can help species that

the world needs. as common. [The bees] help maintain the structure of the

whole forest. "To save the seven species, programs will need to be put in place

that allows their populations to thrive. This hopefully means federal agencies
will fund efforts to protect the areas of Hawaii where known populations live,

though an exact plan has yet to surface. (Hrala, 2016)

That stunt made Hamnett's T-shirts must-haves and the idea was copied

everywhere. Think 'Frankie says relax' and 'Choose life'.(DeKlerk, 2018).

Those quoted words from known designers in the US made a conclusion that

people can influence through shirts, and in that manner many people will

acknowledge earthly problems as well as showing concern which is what the

researchers wants to implement about this matter.

Foreign Literature

The days were gone when clothing and shoes are just basic needs.

Now a days people like positive change in their like with the help of life style.

Even high apparel stores are those stores which appeal to the sophisticated

and discerning customers, and that sell different brands and variety.

or appropriate adjust the price and promotion method for different economic

situation (Huirui, 2011).

Utilizing a model of the satisfaction process analyzing relationship between

problem disconfirmation and satisfaction. The effect of shopping satisfaction

on product satisfaction was also examined. (Roger, 2011). Consider sentiment

on size and fit by identifying the must common mentioned topics and analyzing

their sentiment’s score. We can immediately spot nation-wide trends that

indicate issues endemic issues to fashion industry. (Yotpo.com, 2018)


Fashion is very important. It is life-enhancing and, like everything that gives

pleasure, it is worth doing well, as stated by (Westwood, 2018). Numerous

research reveals that unfavorable customer opinions about clothing purchases

could be detrimental to the reputations of retailers and brand and that

customers satisfaction has been negatively impacted by textile change in

Developing the product involves defining the product benefits and these

benefits are delivered by Quality, Features, Style and Design. These attributes

directly influence the customer’s product reaction (Kotler, 2008).

For product quality is one of the company’s core positioning tools and

closely has relationship with customer satisfaction. Some people said the

quality is the freedom from defects, other people think the quality is when

customers come back. Some businessmen suggest that quality start with

customer demand, go beyond customer satisfaction and ends with customer

retention (Julien & Tsoni, 2013).

Local Literature

The Philippine islands are home to four indigenous species of honey

bees and one imported species. Harvesting honey is not only a mainstay for

smaller villages, but in larger areas beekeeping is a growing industry. Certain

honey bees provide more than a sweet treat. The natural resins from their

combs have cosmetic and medical benefits. (Wayking, 2016)


Such livelihood opportunities keep family breadwinners away from

environmentally destructive activities such as slash-and-burn farming and

deforestation. Through agro-tourism the bee farm gives jobs to these farmers,

their housewives, and other community breadwinners. The park’s rich

vegetation makes Bulusan an ideal place for beekeeping, while at the same

time protecting it and the communities in lowland and coastal areas through

In the Philippines 75% of the food crops need insect (mainly bee)

pollinators for sufficient successful pollination, and these include coconuts,

mangos, coffee, peppers, star fruit, kiwi, cashew, rambutan, macadamia,

sunflowers, papaya, lychee, guava, watermelon, cucumber, squash, gourd,

luffa, avocado, pechay, cowpea, cocoa, passion fruit, oil palm, beans,

tangerine, tomatoes and crops such as cotton. (Wind pollinated crops such as

sweetcorn, rice, and sugarcane are produced in greater volumes). (Wright,

Pollinators can increase plant diversity, which is key to the development

and preservation of the natural environment. Through pollination, they can

offset the damage done to plants by herbivores and pathogens. Pollination of

wild and economic plants can help mitigate climate change. It makes

ecosystem recovery faster, too, after typhoons.

The Filipinos will also encourage to participate in this study, by

supporting and acknowledging the concerns of this project through purchasing

statement shirts, since market demand on the Philippines clothing market was

approximately 7.1 billion U.S. dollars.Philippines from 2011 to 2013, including

a forecast until 2018. Through this information, t-shirts may be a feasible and

a good choice of promoting awareness and showing concern for environment.

Local Literature

Fashion is a form of self-expression, a way to communicate about yourself.

“We have a strong and diverse selection of local brands because Filipinos

customers demand it. Filipinos are very loyal to local brands. When it comes to

fashion trends, Filipinos are very cosmopolitan. They have a very international

taste. It’s a bit counter-intuitive – they want international styles and brands, and

yet they are very patriotic, championing the local brands,” observed by Paulo.

The typical retailers’ marketing decisions include target market, product

assortment and procurement, pricing, services and store atmosphere, store

activities and experiences, communication and location (Kotler & Keller, 2009)

Such factors may include satisfiers, which attract the customers to the store,

and dissatisfiers, which pose as shopping problems of customers. (Gutierrez &

Jegasothy 2010)
Many companies and business in the Philippines wanted to have a stable

customer satisfaction rate. The management may continuously provide

orientation and training to employees on customer relations and services to

meet the full satisfaction of the customers. Customers are satisfied on the

quality of service of this Department Store. The results indicate that marital

status and nature of work affect customer relation while nature of work also

affects the customer service. (Agulo, Agno & Andres Jr., et. al., 2015)

a new way, opening new market for retailers that they would not be able to tap

Definition of Terms

relationships with other animals, their environments, and human beings.

Entomological research can also give us broader insights into ecology,

evolution, and social behavior. Entomologists study insects, such as

ants, bees, and beetles.

 Statements Shirts- is a style of unisex fabric shirt named after the T

shape of its body and sleeves. It normally has short sleeves and a round

neckline, known as a crew neck, which lacks a collar.

 Wild Life - Wildlife traditionally refers to undomesticated animal

species, but has come to include all plants, fungi, and other organisms

that grow or live wild in an area without being introduced by humans.


CHAPTER III

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

Research Design

The proponents uses the descriptive method of collecting data. The

research implies how statement shirts can help raise awareness regarding the

endangering of bees and how does the shirts satisfy the expectations of the

customers. Through this, people will be more aware of the possible

consequences if bees become extinct, for bees based on some research

made, bees are the most important pollinators not only to the flowers but also

to the food crops humans consume. With the help of statement shirts,

individuals will be mindful of their environment and their actions towards it.
Research Instrument

In this study, the researchers used survey questionnaires and interview

guides. The questionnaire is a set of organized questions about the product

that are thoroughly prepared to be answered by a group of people. Interview

guides for the selected interviewees which is also the buyer are designed to

gather facts and information. The proponents will use Slovin's Formula for

calculating respondents.

Population and Sample of the Study

The researchers chose the Senior High School students of La Salle

College Antipolo to be the respondents of this study, the researchers decided

to use Slovin's formula to identify the smaller scale of the said population of

students, until it became 89 respondents and two individuals which are the

buyer of the shirts.

Data Gathering Procedures

The researchers liked to know the effects of the awareness shirts of

bees in the Junior and Senior High School of La Salle College Antipolo and

how are they satisfied with the output. The proponents made a letter of consent

to conduct a survey questionnaire and interview to Junior annd Senior high

school students about the said topic. This in turn provides their views and

awareness on the endangerment of bees by answering the given questions.


Statistical Treatment of Data

The statistical tools used for the interpretation of the survey and

interview result will measure the frequency of the answer given by the

respondents. This will be presented through graphs that will show the

percentage and frequencies of the given results from the survey and interview

and testing the different level of awareness, satisfaction and preference of the

randomly selected respondents. The number of votes or chosen answers will

also be converted to percentages to identify the range of the answers.


CHAPTER IV

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

According to the result of survey conducted by the researchers in Senior

High School students, there are 88 percent of 17-18 years old respondent

answered the survey questionnaire than students aged 15-16 that got 9

percent and aged 19-20 with 3 percent. This shows that 17-18 years old are

dominant among the senior high school students of La Salle College Antipolo.

Generally, the survey consisted of Senior High School respondents in

La Salle College Antipolo, randomly chosen for quantitative survey. In this

graph it shows that there are dominant respondents in male than female

respondents.

The researchers had randomly selected the senior high schools

students as their respondents for the survey. Based on the results the

dominant respondents was the Grade 12 students with 98.9 percent than

Grade 11 student with 1.1 percent.

In La Salle College Antipolo where the survey have conducted, Senior

High School department has three (3) major strands, it consists of ABM,

STEM, HUMSS/GAS strands. According to the result, ABM has a huge

percentage among the other strands as the respondents of the survey. this

also shows that the opinion and/or preference of ABM students are more

dominant and the second one are the STEM Students followed by

HUMSS/GAS students.

Based on the graph above, its shows that most of the respondents are

strongly agreed that they are aware about the endangerment of animals in the

environment. It also describe the knowledge of the respondents towards

environmental issues or aspects. There are only three (3) out of 89

respondents answered disagree and strongly disagree about the animal

endangerment.

According to the result given above, the seven (7) species of Bees that

currently enlisted in endangered animals is not so well on the respondents that

the researchers randomly selected. Twenty-five (25) out of eighty-nine (89)

respondents answered disagree on the topic about the awareness of seven (7)

species of bees being listed of the endangered list. However, twenty-six (26)

answered neutral, half-half situation wherein the respondents, thought they

knew it but not fully inform, and they where inform but not yet confirm.

In this statement, the researchers wants to find out the level of

awareness of the respondents about the negative effects of man’s activities on

environment. Based on the result, it shows that most of the respondents are

agreed on the statement stated above. It describes that it is clear to man that

activities are making a harmful effects to animals especially to their habitats.

In the statement above, the researchers wants to identify the level of

awareness of the respondents towards environmental care for nature. 46.1

percent is the highest mark on the survey answered “Strongly Agree” about

man’s responsibility in making sure that the environment must take care in

order to preserve its value, and state of being. It also defines that the

respondents agree about the responsibility of each individuals to give the

nature importance.

The researchers wants to dig deeper about the respondents

responsibility and willingness to do something for the environment. The

statement above is also a sign of encouraging the people to make ways to help

animals that are in danger. According to the result of the survey, respondents

agreed on considering the prevention of endangered animals to extinct, it got

forty-four (44) strongly agree from the respondents over 89 overall

respondents.

In the statement above, the researchers wants to find out if the

statement is an effective way of rising awareness to people and the

respondents agreed on its effectiveness, 38 over 89 respondents agreed, next

to that is the 33 respondents answered “Strongly Agree” on the statement.

In the survey is also significant to know the preference of the

respondents in order to identify what particular category or basis in which the

respondents are attracted to in terms of purchasing the product and search for

the effectiveness of design in persuading the people to buy a shirt.

In this statement it defines the perception of respondents towards

In this statement, the respondents wants to identify if the statement

shirts or environmental-inspired project or products sparks their interest.

According to survey conducted by the researchers, there is a higher

percentage in “Strongly agree” and “Agree” wherein it both got a 35 votes. It

shows that there are many respondents who are interest in

environmental-friendly and inspired products.

In this last statement, it describe the respondents interest and potential

in the said project, there is 41 respondents strongly agreed on recommending

the statement shirts to their friend and relatives. It also shows that statements

shirts as an way of raising awareness about endangered animals is an

effective, the respondents is willing to tell to any other people about statement

shirts.
Interview Analysis

The researchers had an interview to some customers regarding their

satisfaction and preferences of the shirts. There are three (3) selected

interviewees selected to answer the interview.

Respondent 1

Mr. Elian Miguel Hernandez were ask about his satisfaction regarding

on the shirt and ask why did he purchase it. According to him, the shirt itself is

comfortable and durable because he said the he use to wear it since he

purchase the product. He also said that the design matches his style and he

would like to recommend it to other people as well.

Respondent 2

Ms. Stefan Lim is one of the interviewees, according to her the shirt has

a good quality and the texture of the cloth is also comfortable. She said that the

price matches the shirt design or image and she would like to recommend it to

other people because its beautiful.

Respondent 3

According to Ms. Paulette H. De la Cruz, the reason why she purchased

the shirts is because she believe in the advocacy and she wanted to support

the young entrepreneurs, she also says that the design of the shirt is minimal

and it can also be improved as well lastly, she added that the price of the shirt

is somehow affordable and it can be vary in the target market.


CHAPTER V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Summary of findings

In accordance to the survey conducted, interpretations and numerous

research about the endangerment of seven (7) species of bees, the

researchers found out that the data clearly show that most of the 89 randomly

selected respondents and 3 interviewees agreed and able to reflect their

preferences on the survey questionnaire and interview given to them. The data

shows that shirts must manifest and characterize its purpose, customers are

also satisfied with its quality and the shirt as a whole, but in order to attain this

objectives, it needs to meet the demands and expectations of the respondents

that speaks to its point of view by using statement shirts as way of informing

people. The proponents also distinguish the level of awareness of the

respondents about the issues in the environment that causes so much harm to

nature and animals.

Nevertheless, the data given by the respondents helps a lot in

identifying the different factors in informing people by using different methods

such as producing statement shirts and how does these shirts became an

effective way to spread its purpose in following the trend of this generation and

how to continue to promotes environmental aspects that are being left by

modern demand of the society and people. This study shows how important

the environment is to human being that it makes its own way to appreciate

what nature can bring to people and what people can give back to nature.

Conclusion
The researchers concluded that rising awareness through statement

shirts can relate people’s perspective in terms of style and price, it also follows

the current trends of society by using the trendy design. Lliving in modern

society can be an advantage to provide advocacy and make a move that can

prevent environment from harm.

Current demands can be used to connect with different people who has

different preferences or point of view which can be used to satisfy customer’s

demands and expectation to a certain product such statement shirts. In

connection, making statement shirts as awareness tool can provide necessary

information that could differ and shape the mind of people towards

environmental care and became part of activities that could help the society

and people to become more accessible to nature. It develop consciousness

and provide better learning to people.


Recommendations

The researchers of this study wants to recommend to future generation

to not just only focus on what modernity and technological aspects shows them

and neglect the nature that provides everything to human since the beginning.

In order for them to attain this actions, be part of any advocacy or studies that

would help to empower the nature. Make projects that can provide information

and persuade people to continue to grow by supplying them environmental

knowledge that could help them to have appreciation to Mother Nature. As

human beings, all people have responsibilities in this world, living in modernity

must not cause people to neglect nature, a person must lead another person to

provide advocacy and make a move that would prevent environment from

harm. All people has a part and responsiblity to make this world a better place.
