METHODS AND PROCEDURES

METHODS OF RESEARCH USED

The researchers used phenomenological study, where it attempts to set aside biases
and preconceived assumptions about human experiences, feelings, and responses to a particular
situation and interpretative approach to accomplish the objective and the definite data that will
answer the research questions. The researcher will have conception to understand the
experiences of bullied high school students.

SAMPLES AND SITES

The researchers used the purposive type of sampling where the respondents were
selected according to the purpose of the study. Therefore, the researchers will explore the
experiences of five bullied students and how it affected their everyday lives in terms of their
studies, personal life, and socialization.

The research was conducted at Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez High School, Tatalon, Quezon
City, where the respondents are currently attending.

ACCESS AND PERMISSION

The letters were provided for the admitted site wherein the research was conducted
and also for the people associated specially to the participants for the acknowledgment of their
participation of the study. The researcher produced letters only to the gatekeeper and participants
because the site was only included to the street of the said site.

1. Letter to the gatekeeper

2. Letter to the participants
3. Letter to the parents
DATA GATHERING INSTRUMENT

The researchers used a one-on-one structured interview as an instrument that will

help to gather the data that is needed to the study. Also, the researcher used an interview protocol
to transcribe all the important data that will help study. The information that has been collected
and gathered were assured to the participants that it will be only confidential and for research
purposes only.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The researchers accumulated data for the study by the following process:

1. The researcher visited the site where the gatekeeper and participants lived.
2. The researcher presented the letter to the gatekeeper to request permission to be the
gatekeeper throughout the whole study in the site.
3. The researcher presented also a letter to the parents of the students who were bullied.
4. The researcher together with the gatekeeper talk to the participants and presented a letter
to ask permission to conduct a one on one interview regarding to the study.
5. The interview was conducted and assisted by the gatekeeper.
6. The researcher assured the participants that all the information that they said will be
confidential and will use only for research purposes.

The parents were personally interviewed regarding their experiences in raising their
children. The interview is conducted during their free time, some of them during their children
are getting rest. The purpose of the study was clearly explained and the questions were presented
before the interview. The interview conducted from 15-30 minutes.
DATA ANALYSIS APPROACH

Data is the basis in conducting research. It is the evidence to prove that the study is
relevant and accurate. In this study, qualitative analysis was applied in organizing and validating
the acquired data.

Another method that has been used is the coding method also known as Thematic
Analysis, it is the process that will conclude the themes of the study. In this method, the code
will be based on the data that was gathered from the participants and will come up into a main
idea. By this, the researcher will determine two or three themes that will generalize the whole
theme of the study. The themes were categorized according to the answers of the participants.
