THE TRUMPET CALL

Our Mission: To love Jesus Christ and to share His Love

Our Vision: To be a Christian community where Christ is transforming lives
East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church Volume V Issue 17 April 28th 2019

I hope and pray everyone had a blessed Easter! Like Christmas, which is not a day but a
season, Easter is also a season which stretches from Easter Day until the day before
Pentecost. Pentecost this year falls on June 9, which will be the day we bring our
confirmands into full membership in the church. To celebrate that special day, we will
have one worship service at 10:00 am. Please put that on your calendars now so you
don’t forget!

One of the challenges we face in this Easter season is that we have received resignations from both our
Facilities Manager, Rob Coyle, and one of our two sextons, Bob Lee. Rob has been with us since the late
fall of 2018, and Bob has been with us for the past two years. Rob has been known for his ability to fix
almost anything, and Bob has been a tireless worker doing maintenance and cleaning in both of our
buildings. Bob has also been a huge help during snow and ice storms in getting things cleaned up and
made safe. We so much appreciate the good work both of these men have done for us, and we will greatly
miss them. You might bump into Rob if you shop at Lowe’s as he is now working there full-time, so please
thank him for his service if you see him!

With two large buildings to keep clean and running well, we are in need of a new facilities manager and
sexton. There is also the possibility of making this one full-time position by combining the two twenty hour
positions. We are posting these positions online, but we’d love to have someone referred to us by one of
our members or friends. Full job descriptions are available through our church administrator, Jill Teaford, so
please inquire if you know of someone or you yourself might be interested.

In the meantime, we will all need to do our best and pick up and put away as much as we are able, not
depending on someone to do that for us until we have a full staff once more. We are blessed to have our
Sunday sexton, Craig Banner, still on duty and very enthusiastic to work extra hours and perform extra
duties to make sure our church buildings remain safe, secure, and clean. We are also blessed with a great
team of nine Trustees who are committed to the welfare of our property, and we give thanks to God for their
help ongoing. I invite you to pray that God will bring us the right persons for these positions as God has
done in the past.

Easter Blessings,
Pastor Jim

The preschool nursery class ended the community helper lessons with the simple fact that only Jesus Saves. The
children learned over the past month that Jesus, and our community helpers, can rescue, protect, heal, and
teach; but it is only Jesus that saves us from sin. Photos are of the children dancing and singing Hosanna, the
preschool bulletin board, and a Jesus Saves Me life preserver craft.

Ps. Parents, please help yourselves to the FREE items located immediately outside of the preschool nursery! There
you’ll find a wide selection of educational books, puzzles, and toys that are no longer needed by the Church. Please
note that all remaining items will be donated after Sunday, May 5th, so don’t wait to check these freebies out!
