Educational Technology Philosophy

My classroom philosophy for teaching and technology is that I believe every child in the

classroom contributes as a student, teacher, and thinker. Knowledge is retained and more

useful when it comes from a meaningful learning experience rather than rote learning. I believe

that incorporating technology into my classroom will teach students digital citizenship as well

as how to find trustworthy websites for research. Incorporating technology into my philosophy

is extremely important because technology is involved in a student’s everyday life. Therefore,

teaching them digital citizenship will help students in the future.

I will be using a variety of technology in my classroom those include, newsletters,

kahoot, breakout edu, screencastify, and padlet. Using technology in the classroom will keep

students engaged in the lesson that one is teaching. It also gives students a break from the

formal teaching in front of the classroom. Newsletters will help keep both the students and

parents updated on what is occurring in the classroom throughout the month. Kahoot will help

me assess each student individually to get an accurate understanding of what they know and

don’t know. Padlet is a form of technology where you can assess students in a variety of ways. I

would assess them on their knowledge and ask them to reiterate the information I just taught

by asking questions and getting a response. Breakout Edu will be very beneficial in a classroom

at the beginning of the year. This will help students learn how to work together and

communicate to solve multiple riddles. Screencastify will allow me to put my students in

multiple groups where they will rotate to each group. One of those groups would have a video,
made on screencastify, they have to watch in order to know what to do or what the lesson

entails.

Using this technology will help not only me as an educator, but it will help my students

as well. One major benefit of using technology is it can greatly expand the types of lessons

students can participate in. Keeping children engaged in what their learning will help them

retain the information more efficiently. We learn best by doing rather than by watching.

Students will be incorporating technology into the classroom and showing them how to find

research will help them acquire reliable information. We have the benefit of having technology

in our classroom and teachers should use it to their advantage.
