LIFECO Configuration Utility

Preparation Work

1. Connection:

Use RS232 / RS485 communication converter wire to connect fire alarm control panel and PC. (Drawing 1)

Connect to MA and
MB Control Panel, PC

2. Control Panel Settings:

Power on the control panel and enter into commissioning menu and push down [8] key and come into “Exchange”
function, “standby” is displayed on the LCD screen, and the control panel enter to communication state. At this
time, we can use computer based special software to edit, upload and download associated operation
programming information. (Drawing 2)

3. Software Operating and Settings:

 Execute .exe LIFECO Configuration Utility Software on PC.


 Select the communication port of PC (Drawing 3), compliant communication port: COM1, COM2, COM3,
or COM4. (Note: make sure that software and computer has the same port configuration )
 Select control panel model (Drawing 4)

Function Introduction

The control panel programming software has 3 functions:

1. [Location] (Device Location Description)


The device location description is read-in to the control panel or read from the control panel. Select [Location]
option in the list of [Information Type] on the software interface (Drawing 5), enter the “Location description”
function.

Read-in the device location description


Before the user read-in the device location description to the control panel, firstly fill in the device location
description on the form of the programming software. Make each grid corresponding to an actual device, vertical
line of form show the loop number, and the horizontal line show the devices address.

For example, when the location description of the loop 1 and Number 2 device is “Room 1”, please input as
(Drawing 6).

Note: Each device location description cannot be more than 20 characters.

After the user finish editing the device location descriptions, click “Write” button, select the loop number on the dialog
box, then click “OK” button of the dialog box (Drawing 7), the programming software will transmit the selected device
location description to the control panel, and hint the information in the process of transmitting and saving will be
displayed on the LCD of the control panel in return.

Note:
1. The transmitting and saving of the information will take a period of time, during that period, user cannot
have other operation.
2. Software can only read-in location description of one loop to the control panel each time.
3. The device location description will be eliminated, if there are no characters in its corresponding grid.

Read device located description


When the user read the existed location description in the control panel, click “Read” button, and select the loop
number in the dialog box, then click “OK” button in the dialog box, the hint information in the process of reading
will be displayed on the LCD of the control panel in turn:
“Sending location information”
“Sent location information”
After finishing reading, the device location description will be displayed in the editing form.

Note: Programming software can only read location description of one loop panel each time.

The saving and loading of location description document.


The programming software can be save the location description current editing form in the document. Click “Save”
button, input the name of saving document in the dialog box, click the “Save” button in the dialog box
(Drawing 8).

When the users need to load the content of the document in the editing form, click “Load” button, then select the
name of the loading document in the dialog box, click the “Open” button in the dialog box to load the document
(Drawing 9).

2. [Program] (Associated Operation Programming)


The linkage record is read-in to the control panel or read from control panel select [Program] option in the list of
[Information Type] on the software interface (Drawing 10), enter the “linkage programming” function.

Read-in the linkage record


Before the user read-in the linkage record to the control panel, firstly fill in the content of linkage record in the
editing form of programming software. The horizontal line of editing form shows the number each linkage record,
and the vertical line shows the inclusive element of each linkage record. Following the elements are included in
one linkage record:
Logic: Linkage logic, valid number scope: 1-3, 1 means “OR1”, 2 means “OR2”, 3 means “AND”.

C1_Slave: panel number of condition 1


C1_Loop: loop number of control condition 1
C1_No1: initial device number of control condition 1
C1_No2: ending device number of control condition 1

C2_Slave: panel number of condition 2


C2_Loop: loop number of control condition 2
C2_No1: initial device number of control condition 2
C2_No2: ending device number of control condition 2

A_Slave: panel number of control aim


A_Loop: loop number of control aim

Detailed description see “linkage programming” below or section in the manual of control panel.
For Example, users need to read-in the following two linkage record to the control panel:

Panel 1, loop 1 number 1-5 and device number 10-15 of loop 1, panel 1 adopt “OR1”
Logic, to panel 1 command device number 115-120 of loop 1

Panel 1, loop 1 device number 6-8 and device number 18-22 of loop 1, panel 1 adopt “AND”
Logic to panel 1, command device number 110-125 of loop 1

Note: Page 1 in the programming software is equivalent or starting number page “000” on control panel

After the user finish editing the linkage record, click “Write” button, input the linkage record number in the dialog
box (in this sample, the linkage record number is 2), click the “OK” button in the dialog box (Drawing 12), and the
programming software will transmit the linkage record of the editing form to the control panel. After the control
panel finish the saving of linkage record, the acknowledge information will be displayed on the LCD:
“Saved program information”

Note: Linkage record must be edited in sequence, blank line cannot be left in the middle.

Read linkage record


User can read the existing linkage record from the control panel by clicking “Read” button, the reading linkage
record will be displayed in the editing form. And the hint information in the process of reading will be displayed in
sequence in the LCD of the control panel:
“Sending program information”
“Sent program information”

Saving and loading of linkage record document


In the same way, the user can save and load the linkage record document by clicking “Save” and “Load” button.

3. [History record]
Read the history record from the control panel.
Select the [History record] option in the list of [Information Type] on the software interface (Drawing 13), enter
“history record” function.

Read history record


The user can read the existing history record from the control panel by clicking the “Read” button, and the reading
history record will be displayed on the editing form (Drawing 14). And the hint information in the process of
reading will be displayed on the LCD of control panel sequence:
“Sending history record”
“Sent history record”

In the editing form, horizontal line shows history record number, and the vertical line shows the inclusive elements
in each history record. 3 elements are included in one history record:
“Alarm Type”
“Device No.”
“Alarm Time”

The first two digit of “Device No.” means loop number of device, and the last 3 digit means the device address. For
example, “01002” means “loop 1 number 2 device”.

When the alarm type of history record is “event”, different “Device No.” shows different events, detailed
description see “device address distribution list / device address assignment sheet” in the manual of control panel.

Saving and loading of linkage record document


In the same way, the user can save and load the history record document by clicking the “Save” and “Load” button.

Exit:

Click “Test” button, the control panel will exit the communication state.
