AMT MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST CERTIFICATION

SELF-ASSESSMENT
This self-assessment tool can be used to guide you through AMT’s Medical Technologist (MT) eligibility
requirements. Please use this worksheet as a final check before submitting an application to American
Medical Technologist. DO NOT submit this worksheet with your application. The completion of this
worksheet does NOT guarantee qualification. It is for your use only.

EDUCATION

Do you possess a baccalaureate degree in medical technology from a program or institution accredited
by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency? The accrediting agency MUST be US-based. If
not, you must qualify under a different route.

Do you possess a baccalaureate degree other than in medical technology? If so, have you completed at
least 35 semester hours of coursework related to the clinical laboratory sciences (such as biological
science, microbiology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, mathematics)?

Note: International applications MUST have their credentials evaluated by an evaluation agency listed
on the AMT website. The US equivalency summary MUST indicate that your education is EQUIVALENT to
a baccalaureate degree or higher.

Do you possess a baccalaureate degree AND did you complete an accredited medical laboratory
technician (MLT) training program or a US 50-week military training program?
