MATHEMATICS III Level: III 3RD
Learning Competency/ies Identify and visualize symmetry in the Code: M3GE-IIIg-7.3
environment and design
Key Concepts/ Understanding to Identifying symmetry in the environment and in design
be developed
1. Objectives Contextualization Learning
Materials
Knowledge Identify symmetry in environment
and in design
Skills Illustrate symmetry in the
environment and in design
Attitude Tell whether things or designs are
symmetrical or not
Values Display oneness in doing activity

Drill The teacher will present a drawing
and the pupils will read its
fractional name.
4.1.2 Drawing
Review The teacher will post a drawing on
the board to recall the concept of
intersecting, perpendicular and
parallel lines by describing it.

(tune: sitsiritsit)
4.2 Activity/ Strategy Presentation: Picture of a
The teacher will present a picture butterfly and
of a butterfly and fold it into two. other object
What did you see? Is the butterfly
equally divided?
The teacher will introduce the
word symmetry. Why do you think
this figure is a symmetry? What do
you think is the name or what do
we call a line that divides the
picture into two equal parts?
The teacher will present the other
pictures or objects. The teacher will
have the pupils to visualized and
identify if the given design or
picture is symmetrical or not.
4.3 Analysis The teacher will divide the class E-
into 3 groups, they will be given or paper, pictures
provided each group with 5-10
pictures. Let them discuss. If the
objects/pictures are symmetrical
or not. Why? Draw the line of
symmetry.
4.4 Abstraction What is symmetry? How do we brochures
know that a figure or object or
shape is symmetrical?

4.5 Application The teacher will divide the class

into 3 groups. Each group will be Pictures
provided by a magazine or printed on E-
brochures and cut out the objects paper
that they think are symmetrical
and put it on the cartolina.
