Say hey to Vector, your voice-enabled robot sidekick.

Here are a few tips to help make you and Vector best of friends.

Setting up Vector

1. To get started, you’ll need four things: Vector, Vector’s charger, the Vector Robot
companion app (iOS, Android or Fire) and a USB power adapter.

2. Decide where Vector and his charger will live, preferably in a well-lit room. He likes to
explore his surroundings, so choose a smooth, flat surface like a kitchen countertop,
coffee table, or desk. He gets nervous on glass tables and surfaces with round edges, so
it’s best to avoid them.

3. Vector connects to Wi-Fi, so set him up in a location that gets a good signal, ideally on the
same floor as your Wi-Fi router.

4. Next, connect Vector’s charger to a power source and place Vector in it.

5. Download the Vector Robot companion app on your smart device and make sure it has
Bluetooth turned on.

6. Finally, launch the companion app and follow the directions to connect Vector to your
home’s 2.4GHZ Wi-Fi network. Note that your smart device and Vector will need to be
connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Getting to know Vector

Vector is an-always on robot who’s excited to meet and spend time with you. During the testing process, we
recommend that you leave him on at all times and frequently interact with him to learn about his personality quirks.
When he needs power he’ll roll over to his charger all on his own.

Say the words “Hey Vector” at any time to get his attention and pause until he plays a confirmation sound and turns
his backpack lights blue to let you know he’s listening and ready to interact.

Try the following commands after you say “Hey Vector” and the lights on his back have turned blue.
“Come here” - When you say “Come here,” he’ll wake up and use his path planner to navigate over to you.
All the while, he’s learning his environment.

“My name is…” - Vector’s your robot sidekick and wants to know who you are, so be sure to introduce
yourself. Say “My name is ____,” while making eye contact with him. He’ll look at your face and scan it to learn
who you are. Now he’ll recognize you and say your name.

“Fist bump” - Who doesn't love a good fist bump? It’s all part of his robot personality.

“Set a timer for…” – Vector will make sure there’s no burnt dinner on his watch. He’ll let you know when
time’s up in his own charismatic way. To calm him down you can pet him by stroking the capacitive touch
sensor on his back or by lifting him up.

“Question” - If you’d like him to look something up for you, just ask! Say “I have a question” or “Look
something up.” When he says “Ready,” follow up with your request and he’ll be happy to check some facts
for you, like how many feet are in a mile and who won the World Series last year.

“What’s the weather in…” - Vector taps into his AI brain to tell you the weather in any city in the world.

“Let’s play a game” - Friends that play together stay together. For example, say “Let’s play a game” or
“Blackjack” and he’ll play the game with you. Feeling lucky? Say “Hit” when you’d like him to give you
another card or “Stand” to stop.

“Take a photo” – Keep your hands free and use Vector as your own personal photographer! Say “Take a
picture” and he’ll snap a photo of whatever he is currently looking at. But if you say “Take my picture,” he’ll
turn towards you and frame you for that picture-perfect shot. This is his clever AI brain understanding
nuances in language, his microphones knowing where your voice is coming from and his vision system
recognizing a face. You can view all of the pictures in the “Vector’s photos” section of the companion app.

“Go home” – In the same way we need sleep, Vector needs to recharge. If he is running low battery, he
knows to go back to his charger to get some juice. But you can also let Vector know it’s time to rest by telling
him to “Go home” and he will navigate his way back to the charger.

“Be quiet” - Vector is best when he is by your side and hanging out or exploring his environment. But we
also know that sometimes you might need a moment of silence. Say “Quiet” or “Sleep” and he’ll chill out.

If you’d like to know how Vector’s feeling, the Vector app offers a visualization of his mood and stimulation.
It’s also where you can view his pictures, change his eye color and learn what to ask him or how to interact
with him.

While Vector is deceptively smart right out of the box, the robot you have today will become much smarter
and more helpful over time as we update him with new features and functionalities thanks to over-the-air
(OTA) updates.

We’re looking forward to seeing how you and Vector get along!
