INTRODUCTION
TATA Institute of Social Sciences conducts TISSNET, a national level postgradu-
ate entrance test. The exam is conducted for admissions to Masters in Social
Work and related programs offered by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).
This exam will allow candidates to take admissions in 55 Masters programmes
in Social Science across the five campuses of TISS – Mumbai, Hyderabad,
Guwahati, Tuljapur and Chennai (Banyan).TISSNET will be conducted in 39 cities
across the country. The medium of the test will be English.

TISS, Mumbai has released the TISSNET important dates. The exam will be
conducted on January 6, 2018. As per the important dates of TISSNET, the
application form of TISSNET is made available online from October 24, 2017.

TISSNET Analysis - Section wise


Based on last year’s TISSNET exam, we now present to you the detailed section-wise analysis of the exam.

Math and Logical Reasoning:


The overall difficulty level of this section was easy. The areas covered in this section included Quantitative
Ability, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation. The topics covered were Venn Diagrams, Word Series,
Geometry, Mensuration, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, among others. Also, there were questions from topics

such as Arithmetic, which was further divided into Ratio, Average, Time, Speed
& Distance, Time & Work, Square Root, HCF & LCM, Percentage, Numbers,
BODMAS and Data Interpretation.

English Proficiency:
This section carried easy questions from Reading Comprehension and English
Proficiency. The topics from English Proficiency were Analogy, Fill in the blanks,
Word substitutes, parajumbles, Idioms, Antonyms-Synonyms etc.

Social Sensitivity section:


The questions from General Awareness were asked from History (India and
World), Current Affairs, Social Awareness etc. Most of the questions were
generic in nature and not from current affairs. Unlike the previous years, the
topics were not predominantly from Social Sciences.
