Turkcell U900 Trial Project - Wireless solution application

1) Data preparation
A) GSM Frequency re-planning
All TRX frequencies between 30 and 50 will be occupied by the UMTS cell (4.2 MHz)
so this will require re- farming for new frequencies.

Example of a re-farming scenario

Wireless team will check if the existing TCH frequency is coresponding to the GU configuration. If the
frequncy is does not sastisfy the scenario RNP will start the refarming scenario.

AKBEL2 8 44->12 31->28 35->19

AKBEL3 14 41->51 33->55 22 39->53

Note:

Frequency re-farming does not mean changing TCH only for the target sites also for the
surrounding sites as well, if this criteria is not satisfied there will be interference between the
existing GSM cells and the U900 cells once they are activated.

B) UMTS Data requirements

Once the GSM data is acquired and the re-farming of GSM frequencies is done on the
BSC, RNP team needs to provide radio planning for UMTS.

Cell Name = NodeB Name + sector ID + 0

Scrambling Code = same as U21

Cell Power = same as U21

CPICH Power = same as U21

Cell ID = will be provided by radio team

SAC = Cell ID
LAC = same as U21

Local Cell Id = for sector 1 is 20, sector 2 =21, sector 3 = 22 sector 4 = 23, etc.

Time offset = same as U21

Sample of U900 planning

410728 AKBEL20 KYSPHR4 25070 60568 46424 195 460 340
410729 AKBEL30 KYSPHR4 25070 60568 16356 203 460 330
410730 AKIST10 KYSPHR4 25070 60568 813 5 460 350
410731 AKIST20 KYSPHR4 25070 60568 60557 13 460 343
410732 AKIST30 KYSPHR4 25070 60568 42699 21 460 343
410733 AKIST40 KYSPHR4 25070 60568 45659 134 447 343

Note:

Total power used by GSM and UMTS must not exceed the total power of RRU (in the test case
80W RRU). In this case the power for UMTS cell could be decreased or some TRXs could be
deleted depending on planning strategy.

C) RNC U900 Cell Addition Script

1) Export from CME the Radio Template

UMTS Application->Export Data->Export Radio Network Planning Data

Select the controller, double click on the name and select “Next” after:
Select only NodeB and Cell as parameters to export:
Press ADD and Select to choose the desired NodeB:

Select the all the cells from the desired NodeB and press “>”.
After all the cells are in the right side click OK.
Select “Next”

Select “Next”

Click on the File Path to Open The Template:

After the Excel is opened you can close by selecting Finish.

2) Filling the excel template with the new radio data

- Before removing the old info from the template you need to copy some parameters from the
existing cells which are similar for the newly added U900 cells in the exported template in the
sheet named “CELL”
- Remove all the rows with information related to the U21 cells.
- Start filling the template with the new information received from planning:
- Marked with green is the info copied from the old cells and the info required to be filled is
marked with yellow.

Copy from RF Data the “Cell Name” and “CI” will become the “Cell ID”:

Select BAND 8 and Uplink UARFCN use 2790 and for Downlink UARFCN use 3015 for all U900 cells, and
copy DL Primary Scrambling Code from RF DATA.

For “SAC” the values are the same as the “CI”:

The Time Offset is different for each sector:

Sector 0 - Chip 0, Sector 1 - Chip256, Sector 2 – Chip512, Sector 3 – Chip768

PCPICH= CPICH (from RF Data)

Local cell ID: 20 sector 0,21 sector 1, 22 sector 2, 23 sector 3.

Cell Template Name is always: U900_template

2) Configuration deployment

A) Features activation
->For co-mpt scenario features will be activated by license:
Before running any scripts for the basic configuration to work for all eGBTS sites some additional
license objects should be activated.

These features should be activated on all sites before deploying U900 cells.
->For GTMU scenario features will be activated by MML:
RRU power sharing

SET BTSRXUBP: IDTYPE=BYID, BTSID=188, RXUIDTYPE=SRNSN, CN=0, SRN=80, SN=0,

RXUTYPE=MRRU, GUPWRSHARESWITCH=YES;
SET BTSRXUBP: IDTYPE=BYID, BTSID=188, RXUIDTYPE=SRNSN, CN=0, SRN=80, SN=0,
RXUTYPE=MRRU, WORKINGSTANDARD=GSM_AND_UMTS, GUPWRSHARESWITCH=YES,
PASHRMODE=INTERPAPS;

B) GSM Frequency Re-farming

- Check the TRXs frequency of the GSM cells to avoid clashing with the U900 Cells, if the GTRX
frequency is between 30 and 50 you need to start the re-farming process.
MML example:
DEA GCELL:IDTYPE=BYID,CELLID=340;
ADD GCELLFREQ:IDTYPE=BYID,CELLID=340,FREQ1=17;// add new cell frequencies
MOD
GCELLMAGRP:IDTYPE=BYID,CELLID=340,HOPINDEX=0,FREQ1=24,FREQ2=26,FREQ3=17;//modify
MA group
MOD GTRX:IDTYPE=BYID,TRXID=1467,FREQ=17;// set new TRX frequency
ACT GCELL:IDTYPE=BYID,CELLID=340;
- If two TRXs have adjacent frequencies you have to set “FREQREUSEMODE” to TIGHT for
all TRXs in the cell:
MML Example: SET
GTRXDEV:IDTYPE=BYID,TRXID=x,POWL=0,EGBTSPOWT=x,POWTUNIT=W,FREQREUSEMO
DE=TIGHT;
- Check if the power of all TRXs and ULOCELL exceeds the maximum power of the RRU, if
so decrease the power for every GSM TRX or for U900 cell.
- Distribute missing license objects to eGBTS if required. (step required to clear alarms).
- After re-farming is done check if the cell status.
DSP GCELLSTAT, and check if there is no channel fault.
- Distribute missing license objects to eGBTS if required.(step required to clear alarms).
- If Current BTS is configured with GTMU not co-mpt ask field support to connect second fiber
between NodeB (WBBP/UBBP card) and GSM RRU (CPRI 0 on RRU side will be GSM and CPRI 1
will be UMTS).
- Also you need to set the RRU mode to UMTS+GSM:
- SET BTSRXUBP: IDTYPE=BYID, BTSID=162, RXUIDTYPE=SRNSN, CN=0, SRN=90, SN=0,
RXUTYPE=MRRU, WORKINGSTANDARD=GSM_AND_UMTS, GUPWRSHARESWITCH=YES;

C) RUN in Batch U900 addition script

Open maintenance client on the corresponding RNC and run the U900 cell addition script
obtained in the previous steps.

D) CO-MPT Scenario MML

- Modify The RRU:

MOD RRU:CN=0,SRN=61,SN=0,RT=MRRU,RS=GU; (mandatory)

- Set the working mode of the UBBP to UMTS and GSM.

MOD BBP: CN=0, SRN=0, SN=3, TYPE=UBBP, BBWS=LTE_FDD-0&LTE_TDD-0; (optional)

- Add Baseband equipment for UMTS (optional in live network BBEQ already exists
required if all local cells exceed a number of 12)
ADD
BASEBANDEQM:BASEBANDEQMID=1,BASEBANDEQMTYPE=UL,UMTSDEMMODE=DEM_2_CHAN
,SN1=3;

ADD
BASEBANDEQM:BASEBANDEQMID=1,BASEBANDEQMTYPE=DL,UMTSDEMMODE=DEM_2_CHAN
,SN1=3;

- Add sector equipment for UMTS

ADD
SECTOREQM:SECTOREQMID=1,SECTORID=1,ANTNUM=2,ANT1CN=0,ANT1SRN=61,ANT1SN=0,A
NT1N=R0A,ANTTYPE1=RXTX_MODE,ANT2CN=0,ANT2SRN=61,ANT2SN=0,ANT2N=R0B,ANTTYPE
2=RX_MODE;(optional, for live deployment we will use same sector and sector equipment as
GSM for U900)

- Add or modify the GTRXGROUPSECTOREQM max power

ADD/MOD GTRXGROUPSECTOREQM:GTRXGROUPID=0,SECTOREQMID=1,MAXPOWER=X; (put
the correct power used by the TRXs, otherwise the cells will not work) (optional, use only in
case of alarms or the U900 cell is not coming up)

- Add GBTS Power Share Group

ADD
GBTSPWRSHRGRP:PWRSHRGRPID=0,PWRSHRTYPE=GUPWRSHR,SECTOREQMID1=1,PWR
SHAREPWRLOAD=60; (mandatory you can use 60%)
- Add the U900 Local cell:
The UMTS local cell will use BASEBAND EQUIPMENTS as U2100 cells, same sector and sector
equipment as the GSM local cell.

ADD
ULOCELL:ULOCELLID=20,LOCELLTYPE=NORMAL_CELL,SECTOREQMNUM=1,SECTOREQMID1=1,T
TW=FALSE,ULFREQ=2790,DLFREQ=3015,MAXPWR=430,HISPM=FALSE,RMTCM=FALSE,VAM=FAL
SE,FREQUENCYBANDWIDTH=4200; (example of MML, try filling the parameters from the MML
commands in U2000 or in NodeB LMT).

Note:

If there is a two RRU sector and with two sector equipments per sector put the U900 cell where
there is more free power resource (less number of TRXs).

(Flexible Freq Bandwidth Feature Required-license controlled object)

If cell does not work adjust power for TRXs or for the UMTS, after that reset the RRU.

After the cells are set-up and working deactivate them and wait for neighbors from Radio
Team.

Note:

Try to analyze the site configuration before starting deploying U900 cells to avoid service impact as
much as possible( sector configuration, power usage, RRU type, number of cells, number of UBBP
boards, UBRI boar case, etc).

LSE,FREQUENCYBANDWIDTH=4200; (example of MML, try filling the parameters from the MML
commands in U2000 or in NodeB LMT).

Set Frequency bandwidth to 4200:

SET FREQBWH: CN=0, SRN=90, SN=0, FMBWH=4200;

Note:

Try to understand TRX mapping to RRU, antenna connection, power consumption per PA and per RRU
and also site topology before expanding to GU mode.
If there are two RRUs used in one sector in GSM mode, the UMTS sector and sector equipment must be
configured also on both RRUs and TX antenna should be assigned where there is more free power
resource (less number of TRXs).

Note:

In the co-mpt case the features are enabled by setting license, in this case the features are enabled by
running MML commands in the GSM BSC.

F) Neighboring relations

After deploying the U900 cells please ask RF team to provide neighboring relations for the new cells and
run them accordingly. Activate the cells and request a test call or a drive test to check the result.
