| considered this short message taken from a Dutchelan=
guage weekly magazine (KNACK. n°32, volume 28,
1998) would be a nice beginning to end a three-year
period as editor. I irst considered the newsletter a5 an
adopted baby surrounded by lots of care at birth,
entrusted to me in 1995. Pretty soon it turned out to
bbe an “own” baby cherished with a lot of care by myself
and by the entire (female) board at CIDOC. The three
past years just flew by, bt the above message puts me
at rest: possibly this baby will also let me lve longer.
‘This year too I was able as editor to count on the assi-
stance and support of the entire board and of numerous
authors who contributed to this number. Our Australian
colleagues gave usa diversified and fascinating overview
fof the museum documentation in their host country.
Shorter contributions offer information on the involve-
‘ment of CIDOC in other organisations and inform the
reader on che continuous functioning of various wor-
king groups within our ICOM committee.
CIDOC does full honour to the theme of this year’s
general ICOM conference: in the past three years we
have held our annual meeting on three different conti-
rents, while we were privileged to become familiar with
their cultural diversities,

gue vie!
