INTRO

If I had to say what it was about in a sentence:

Encourage you to be intentional in discipleship / by meeting in small groups / that focus on
Christian growth & relational outreach / in Simple, Easy, fun ways / that can be easily duplicated in
others.

OVERVIEW OF THE BIBLICAL MANDATE

- When I started as a pastor I was not given a job description
 I just copied what I saw my / other pastors did (never questioned it)
 It seemed pastors main role was to preach and lead meetings?
 Pastor = cross between a shepherd and a communicator?
(That is indeed PART of the role)
 How I wish is was given a job description!!!

BIBLICAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Ephesians 4:11-12 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and
some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying
of the body of Christ.
- Multiply ministry > Not church expectations!

EVERY BELIEVER IS IN ‘THE MINISTRY’

- “The Ministry” is not an exclusive pastors club!
Gk: Diakonia – “To serve”
 When Jesus was baptised he immediately went “into the ministry” – and so should we!
NB. Not everyone is called to function as a pastor but there are other ministry function!

Ephesians 4:13-16 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be
children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in
the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things
into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what
every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes
growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

MOBILISE FOR MISSION

Matt 28 “Make disciples” = The One Thing
- I've found that I can be busy doing EVERYTHING with doing the “One Thing"
- Discipleship is about taking people from the fringe of your church to the core / leadership

KEEP IT SIMPLE
Q. What is different from other forms of discipleship / small group?
Ans: Keeping it SIMPLE
 Simple means do-able
 Simple means transferable
 Simple means EVERY person is a potential leader
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these
to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

NB. CFF already doing this – Ian & Gio seeing great success
