Professional Development Plan
Goal #1: Goal #2:
Rationale: Finding Effective Ways to Address
Barriers to Parent Involvement is a
big goal I will like to work towards. I
chose this goal because it is a
common problem that I know other
teachers face. I expect finding
effective ways to address different
barriers between me and parents will
help create a positive relationship
amongst me and my future students.
They know their parents before they
ever meet me. If their parents view
me in a respectable way and see that I
have their child’s best interest at
heart, it will only help their children
feel the same likewise.
End Date: May 2021 is the goal, but I plan to
continue to learn and grow to stay
current with newly discovered
research.
Action Timeline: I will begin by watching all of the
modules that are available under the
Addressing Barriers to Parent
Involvement . For example: 4/17/19:

Goal #3:
Creating a Positive Learning
Environment by building
relationships with students and
interacting with them in an authentic
way is another goal that I will like to
reach. I prefer to work towards this
goal because I know how powerful
relationship building contributes to
student learning. Getting to know my
students and learning about who they
are individually and collaboratively
will help them know me as a person.
Establishing relationships with
students will help them feel safe, hold
them accountable for personal
actions, and promote them to work
harder because they know that I care
about their overall well-being. It will
also minimize behavioral problems.
May 2021 is the goal, but I plan to
continue to learn and grow to stay
current with newly discovered
research.
I will join the Sanford Inspire
Professional Development workshop
4/17/19 and continue to work
collaboratively with administrators
Creating-Multi-/Sensory Experiences
to Memory Retention is another goal
that I will focus on. I chose this goal
because I have a passion to learn how
the brain operates and to learn more
effective ways to teach to different
learning styles. All students learn in
different ways and my goal is to
devote myself to learning better ways
to help them not only learn new
things, but to remember what they
learn. This will improve student
learning on so many levels. It will
arouse their senses and help them
become more active participants in
their learning. By being provided
with visualizations, hands-on
experiences, and auditory
experiences, their minds will be
stimulated, which in return will help
them easily recall what they learned.

I will begin by joining Sanford
Inspire Professional Development
workshops on 4/17/19. I will attend
Professional Development workshops
 Join Sanford Inspire. Between
Families and Schools: Creating
Meaningful Relationships is a
Professional Development download
that is available through “Teaching
for Change website that I also plan to
invest in for the summer of 2019.
Resources: One amazing resource I have found is
the Sanford Inspire Professional
Development Website. I plan to use
the resources that are listed in the
reference section. I will also utilize
any of the school district required
Professional Development workshops
to help me reach my goal.

and grade level instructors. I will also
continue to conduct research that
expose me to different culture norms
to help me value and respect students
and to promote diversity in the
classroom.
The Sanford Inspire website is a great
resource that provide modules for
Professional Development. I will also
utilize the internet by conducting
research by accredited websites to
help me learn more positive ways to
effectively build relationships with
students.
through the Chesterfield County
School District in August of 2019,
and 2020. I will also continue to
conduct research online and attend
other Professional Development
seminars.
The Sanford Inspire website has great
resources to help me reach my goal.
There are also many other online
Professional Development lectures
and workshops to help me better
understand the brain and learning.
Heinemann's website also has a One-
Day workshop available on July 9,
2019 that I plan to attend.
