Ms.

Tindle’s Classroom Procedures

1) How to Enter the Classroom: First thing I will do is to greet my students at the door. All students
must enter quietly, sit in their assigned seats and place any assigned homework in their tables
turn in folders. After they will begin working on the daily warm up. The daily warmup is to be
completed individually. The students will have 5 minutes after the bell to complete the warmup.
Once time is up, we will review the warmup, this is the time for any questions about the warm
up. If a student comes in after most of their classmates, they will come in quietly and proceed
with completing the warmup. It is okay to not be finished with the warmup when time is up as
we will go over it afterwards.
2) Homework: Any assigned homework will be turned in to the students’ designated turn in folder
at their table, unless instructed otherwise. There will be a table leader for each table (will
alternate every week) and the leader will be responsible for taking their tables turn in folder to
the turn in box assigned to their period meeting time. Any student who misses the opportunity
to turn in the homework with their table will wait till class is over and turn in their assignment to
me personally. They will be instructed to write their table number and meeting time at the top
of the assignment. Students who fail to turn in two or more homework assignments will receive
a phone call home.
3) Indicating you understand: Periodically throughout instruction, I will ask the students “Thumbs
up if you understand, thumbs to the side if you sort of understand, and thumbs down if you
don’t”. This will help me see the topic of discussion needs to be reviewed with the entire class
or if some students need 1 on 1 time with me. If students are still struggling with certain topics,
they will know they are more than welcome to come up to me personally before school, recess,
after school, and during class if they need any more help. Parents are more than welcome to
send me an email or a note concerning their child’s understanding in my classroom.
4) Sharpening pencils: Students will have limited opportunities to sharpen their pencils during
class, to avoid disruptions. Students will be allowed to sharpen pencils before the bell rings for
class and right before I begin the lesson of the day. I will ask the students to have at least 2
pencils sharpened for the day. If they don’t have a pencil or the ones, they have sharpened
break during the day, they can switch their broken pencil for a sharpened one from my desk.
5) Coming to attention: Every time I want my students’ attention I will either ask them to give me
5 (eyes on the speaker, mouth quiet, body still, ears listening, hands free) by the show of their
hands, I will silently walk towards the students who might be causing disruption, or ask the class
if they can hear me clap once.
6) Going to the bathroom: Students will be allowed to go to the bathroom by raising their hand
and asking permission. Then the student will sign out by the door (including the time) and go to
the bathroom. The students will know they have only up to 5 minutes to use the
restroom. Students will be instructed to use the restroom before class, but they will be allowed
2 passes per week If they run out of passes for the week, and they have the choice to use the
bathroom in exchanged for 1 ticket. (Explained on discipline plan tab)
