8. REPAIR PROCEDURE

8.1GENERAL
 Proprietary factory made materials approved by the Company shall be used for the repair.
 All repair areas shall be covered from direct sunlight.
8.2 General Surface Preparation
 All surface preparation shall be done as per manufacturer’s recommendation. In general, the surface
shall be sound, clean and free from any loose materials up to sound concrete and the surface must be
free from oil, grease and dust.
 Make rough surface by chiselling.

4 | P a g e METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR REPAIR OF CONCRETE WORKS ARROUND ELECTRICAL DB (BLOCK A AND D)
 All prepared areas should be thoroughly soaked with clean water immediately prior to repairing product
application; any residual surface water should be removed prior to commencement.
8.3 Formwork – General
 Before fixing any formwork, ensure that the area to be grouted is clean.
 The formwork itself must be constructed to be leak-proof, to prevent any possible grout loss. This can be
achieved by using foam rubber strip or mastic sealant beneath the formwork, and at any joints in the
formwork. It shall, however, also be provided with drain holes and plugs.
 The formwork should also be constructed in such a way as to keep the final, unrestrained surface area of
the grout to a minimum, to avoid problems with cracking at a later stage.
 It should be fixed in such a way as to allow easy stripping, without causing damage or distress to the
grout.
 All dirt and debris to be removed from the grout area before the last piece of formwork is fixed, to
facilitate pre-soaking.
8.3 Mixing
 For bests results a mechanically powered grout mixer should be used – do not use a colloidal impeller
mixer.
 For small quantities of grout a slow speed drill (400/500 rpm) fitted with a high shear paddle is
acceptable, but mixing should be restricted to one bag at a time in a container of minimum capacity of
25 litters.
 Measure out full quantity of clean water (2.7 – 2.9 litres for trowel able and 3.2 to 3.6 litres for flow able
consistency of mix) into the mixer.
 Slowly add the required quantity (approx 20 kg) HF 107 to the water and mix continuously for 3 to 5
minutes, until a smooth, free flowing consistency is obtained.
8.4. Placing
 It is essential that the machine mixing capacity, material supply and labor availability is adequate to
enable the grouting operation to be carried out continuously.
 Immediately prior to placement, the mixed grout should be briefly agitated to release any surface
tension. At 25ºC, place the grout within 15 minutes of mixing to gain the full benefit of the expansion
process.
 Continuous grout flow during the grouting operation is essential. Sufficient grout must be available prior
to starting, and the time taken to pour a batch must be regulated to the time taken to prepare the next
one.
 The mixed grout should be poured only from one side of the void to eliminate the entrapment of air, or
surplus pre-soaking water. The grout head must be maintained at all times so that a continuous grout
front is achieved.
8.5. Rough Finishing
 After 24 hour of grouting formwork should permit removal of various parts in desired sequences without
damage to the concrete
 make sure the surface shall be sound, clean and free from any loose materials.
 Apply HF-111 material on grouted surface up to required level.
8.6. Final Finishing
Next day apply HF-112 material on rough surface up to desire finish level.

9. CURING
 Curing will be done as per Manufacturer recommendation.
 Curing with damped Hessian is to be done for one day.

5 | P a g e METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR REPAIR OF CONCRETE WORKS ARROUND ELECTRICAL DB (BLOCK A AND D)
10. QUALITY ASSURANCE
 A Quality Assurance System will be operated conforming to related standards.
 Controls and checks will be established.
 Repaired surface Inspection will be offered to Engineer.
