Street as Livable Space in the Urban

Settlement)
The articles examine that urban streets are places where people walk, shop, meet, and
generally engage in the diverse range of social and recreational activities that what makes
urban living enjoyable. Street livability is mainly determined by better integration of the people
perception, preference and safety. Beside the ordinary service and functions it should promote
and incorporate outdoor social activities and public elements. Integrating street to public realm
could create persistence and livability which make vibrant the street during day and night time.
In addition to that the design principles and activities of urban street can shape the walkablity of
users and sociability .generally the research analyzes the impact and influence of street toward
urban pattern and socio economic phenomena. Considering on the point of the researcher study
we have some common interest which has a relation to our topic. Associated with influence of
street we argued on the researcher assumption that he a give a big priorities and consideration
to urban street which can affect livability and social interaction. Related to design aspect we
also have common sharing which enable us to emphases on design aspects that meet people
interest and preference. In generally the researcher point of view on street influence toward
social issue can fit and work best in our research study.
(Omaha By Design, 2008).Streetscape Handbook)
This book is mainly describe the design aspect, basic principles, components of streetscape
and standards of streetscape of which should the professional follow and used in their
design solutions.the book primarily advocate how to establish a consistence streetscape
design features while recognizing the character and interest of the users and society.furture
more it describes that the images of city mainly reflected in its street.over all the book give
a guide for designers and implementers toward creating an attractive and functional street
environment for city and society. (“The design of streets and street furniture with delineated
areas of civic importance should be subject to special design standards. “)since, that our
research study focus on design aspect of streetscape it helps us to experience and practice
new design techniques which should follow the principles, guids and standards.therefore
the design and standards are essential for creating a disntictive sense of place with
coordinating the feature and components of the streetscape.we really appricate that the
book contain and participate professional for instance planners, architects, landscapers. So
that it have valid information and professional design techniques. As a whole the book gave
us much knowledge considering on the design techniques streetscape for successful
design outputs
(Mohga E. Embaby, May-2015). Promoting Cultural Identity along Streetscape
Redesign “Case studies in Cairo and Luxor Cities, Egypt”)

This thesis article is talking about The formulation and application of streetscape redesign
principles to enhance local cultural identity requires a deep understanding to the street urban
context; existing built environment, socio-economic, ecological, and cultural conditions. It
introduces theoretical guidelines to develop and revitalize historic streets. (Streets as a Core of
Cultural Identity) this phrase is essential to our research study regarding on keeping existing
culture and reflecting identity in streetscape elements. So when the streetscapes are regulated,
controlled, the negative impacts of urban growth can be managed, and the original identity can
be conserved. Hence, that with the distinct character of street we can bring and form a unique
identity. as such mater people can feel and perceive its cultural identity through design elements.
(Streetscape Image ability and Character Perception) in this phrase he try mention that
Streetscape can also be analyzed in visual terms such as: street alignment, length of
segment, scale and proportion, architectural forms and spatial configuration. generally we
support and admire the way that the research is try to describe and gave a case studies on
how to reflect our own cultural identity through streetscape design elements.

(Charlotte Marceau, Dr Annabel Bradbury, Robin Hickman,). Designs for life: Learning from
Best Practice Streetscape Design)

This paper reviews evolving best practice of streetscape design in rural areas in the UK and
abroad. The paper considers a number of critical issues in the evolving streetscape design
debate: How far travel behavior on roads can be influenced by the expression of the
environment, rather than the usual tools of traffic engineering; How important psychological
retreat from street use is in determining traffic speeds; A new approach to design speed;
and Potential litigation difficulties related to innovative streetscape design.( streetscapes and
design speed approaches)this research phrase describe that Speed issues affect
dimensions and geometry, materials and paving, signing and marking, sight lines and
verges, and all aspects of the relationship between roads and their environment.
Perceptions of risk, discomfort and severance are all closely linked to traffic speeds,
together with noise, vibration and environmental pollution.hence, that it enable us to think
eternal movements and feature has a very high interconnection on addressing and
practicing streetscape design.( good practice streetscape designs) this phrase emphases on
keeping users preference and console either by improving or redesign elements to remove
external barriers. Generally the article that e wrote in this study are work best and fit to our
project.
