Articulated Truck:
Description of Change: In certain operating conditions, the oil tubes between the
retarder control valve and the power train oil cooler may leak due to corrosion.
Materials may build up in the crankcase guard and contact the tubes. The tubes may be
replaced with hoses which have a higher resistance to corrosion in certain
environments.
Adaptable To: The hoses are not direct replacements for the tubes. Additional parts
are required to replace the tubes with the hoses. Refer to Table 1 for a list of parts
required to replace the tubes with hoses.

1. Remove the crankcase guards and locate the tubes between the Retarder Control
Valve (A) and the power train Oil Cooler (B). Refer to Disassembly and
Assembly, RENR3446, "725, 730 and 730 Ejector Articulated Trucks Engine

2. Disconnect the Wiring Plug (C) for the transmission oil temperature sensor. Refer
to Illustration 2.
3. Position a suitably sized container under the tubes between the retarder control
valve and the oil cooler.

5. Remove the Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor (D) from the Block (E).
Retain the sensor. Refer to Illustration 3.

9. Bolt the Block (3) and sensor assembly onto the lower port of the power train oil
cooler. Use Bolts (11), four Hard Washers (8), and support clips for the
transmission temperature sensor wiring harness. Reconnect the wiring for the
temperature sensor secure to the lower clip using two Cable Straps (16). Refer to
Illustrations 7 and 8.

11. Clean the area around the upper port of the power train oil cooler. Ensure that all
sealing surfaces are free of dirt and rust. Attach Plate (4) to the upper port using
two Bolts (6) and Hard Washers (8). Install the bolts in the upper right-hand and
lower left-hand holes. Refer to Illustration 10.

17. Orient Hoses (1) and (2) to ensure no contact to any of the surrounding
components of the machines. Tighten all bolts at this time. Refer to Illustration
16.
18. Tie Hoses (1) and (2) together using two Straps (15). Ensure that the hoses do not
contact the power train Oil Cooler Support Bracket (E). Refer to Illustration 16.
19. Referring to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for your machine, start the
engine and check for oil leaks.
20. Referring to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, check and top off the
transmission oil as necessary.
