Annexure – II: Minor in Aerospace Engineering (2013 batch onwards)

Minor in aerospace engineering is composed of two components; a compulsory part containing the following
course and a minor basket for choosing the remaining four courses.

AE 153 Introduction to Aerospace Engineering (Offered in III Semester)

In addition to the compulsory minor AE 153M, students pursuing minor in aerospace engineering are required
to complete four more courses over the remaining five semesters (IV,V, VI, VII & VIII), by choosing courses
from minor baskets defined for Autumn and Spring semesters, respectively. However, students can take a
maximum of three courses from a basket (i.e. 1, 3; 2, 2; 3, 1 combinations for autumn and spring semester
basket respectively). The minor basket for spring 2017-18 is given below.

Autumn Semester 2017-2018:

AE 227M Solid Mechanics; (Not available to students of CE, ME, EN)

AE 225M Incompressible Fluid Mechanics; (Not Available to students of CE, ME, EN, CL)
AE 223M Thermodynamics and Propulsion; (Not Available to students of CE, ME, EN, CL)
AE 234M Aircraft Propulsion (To run with AE 711, prerequisite: AE 223M or equivalent);
AE 236M Compressible Fluid Mechanics (To run with AE 616, prerequisite: AE 225M or equivalent);
AE 238M Aerospace Structural Mechanics (To run with AE 709, prerequisite: AE 227M or equivalent);
AE 305M Flight Mechanics (To run with AE305);
AE 442M Modelling and Simulation (To run with AE 442);

AE 333M Aerodynamics (run with AE333, prerequisite: AE 225M, AE 236M or equivalent);

AE 326M Vibrations and Structural Dynamics (To run with AE 326, prerequisite: AE227M or equivalent);

Spring Semester 2017-2018

AE 234M Aircraft Propulsion (To run with AE 234);

AE 236M Compressible Fluid Mechanics (To run with AE 236, prerequisite: AE 225M or equivalent);
AE 238M Aerospace Structural Mechanics (To run with AE 238, prerequisite: AE 227M or equivalent);
AE 330M Aerospace Propulsion (To run with AE 330, prerequisite: AE 225M, AE 236M or equivalent);
AE 332M Aircraft Design (To run with AE 332, prerequisite: AE 305M or equivalent);
AE 308M Control Theory (To run with AE 308)

AE 410M Navigation and Guidance (To run with AE 410)

Kindly note that students desirous of proceeding with minor in aerospace engineering would be able to tag any
of the courses above as minor. These courses may not be offered in slot 5.

All minor registrations (excepting for AE 153M), will be carried out manually, and in consultation with minor
coordinator Prof. Sudarshan Kumar of Aero Dept.
