Love Me Like You is sung by the sibling band The Young Escape featuring rapper
Nobigdyl. The Young Escape is a brother and sister Christian band that is fairly new to music.
They released their first single Good Life in October of 2017, and have released three other
songs along with a remix of Good Life. Love Me Like You is their newest song that debuted
August 3rd of 2018. They have yet to release a full album, but they have teased many times they
are coming out with one before the end of 2019. I discovered them from my brother last summer
and have loved their music ever since. Their unique pop sound with a electronic edge is what
drew me to them to begin with. As a Christian myself, I love finding bands like The Young
Escape who remain true to their backgrounds and sing the style of music I like.
In the first and second line of the chorus, McKenna, The lead singer of the band, writes
"even in the middle of the night even when my heart can't see the light" which is a metaphor
because your heart can not see. This is meant to convey that we will not understand why
everything happens the way it does, but even in our darkest times He is still there. This same
meaning is found in a different lyric in the third line of verse two she says "When the skies are
falling all around me." The Young Escape uses repetition with the theme throughout the song to
convey their deeper message to the listener that no one will love you like Jesus. It shows this by
repeating “Nobody's gonna love me like you” in the chorus twice. In three different lines, she
portrays the theme again through more repetition in the second line of both the first and second

chorus "even when my heart can see the light", in the 4th line of the chorus "even when the
oceans pull me out", and in the third line of verse 2 "when the skies are falling all around me."
These tools that they use, are important to the integrity of the song
The words in the song convey that God's love never runs away when things get hard.
That his love will never break because He always keeps His promises. The Young Escape is
trying to tell the audience that no matter what situation someone may be in, they are not alone.
He knows our emptiness and the struggles we face and yet He still gives us His perfect real love
that will never end. That people don’t have to rely on their circumstance to fill themselves up.
When we think something doesn't make sense and everything has fallen out of place, that no one
can fall out of God's love. Nobody is going to love you like Him.
[Bridge: nobigdyl]
I was in a rut, I had given up, it was in my blood
I would trade it all for shame when You give me love
I took Your words and made a riddle with that
Then I cried a river and You went and built a bridge over that (Bridge over that)
Rainstorms, rainbow, You brought the Skittles to that
You gave me love when I had none, yea it's simple as that
