Imagine this: You are trapped in a burning house, and your breathing in all of
the smoke. Its bad for you, obviously, for when you get out of the house you’ll
have to be put on a breathing machine. That’s what cigarettes do to you. Smoking
is like smoking a controlled version of a house fire. Dare I say, even worse than
an average house fires smoke? Smoking is just a slower way of killing yourself
because it wastes your money, messes with your organs, and it can cause things
like house fires.

The average price of cigarettes is around 5 U.S. dollars. On the report of the
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Prices for cigarettes were 179.39% higher in
2019 versus 2000 (a $8.97 difference in value).” The amount of time a normal
cigarette will get you high for is abut 20 minutes. The point is, you pay over $5
(maybe even multiple times) a day for something that will have weak effects that
last you half an hour at most. And even if you get a cigarette for free somehow,
it’s a addictive. Is spending a large portion of your life hooked on something that
drains not only your health but plummets your bank account really worth it?

Do me a favour and try to see how many organs you can name. Got that number?
Cool, because all of those organs you just counted are effected by cigarettes, cigars,
etc.. Whether it be slightly or majorly, effected nonetheless.According to Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, “Estimates show smoking increases the risk, for
coronary heart disease by 2 to 4 times, for stroke by 2 to 4 times, of men developing
lung cancer by 25 times, and of women developing lung cancer by 25.7 times.”

Bringing us back to my point concerning burning buildings: smoking can kill you
in more than 1 way! The Insurance Journal, “Cigarettes Blamed for 1 of 4 Fire
Deaths, More Than Any Other Cause. The number of fires caused by lighted tobacco
products – almost always cigarettes – increased by 19 percent in the most recent year
studied, according to research by the the National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA).” Depending on if you fell a asleep with a lit cigarette, or even dropped it on
something flammable, fires can start in a moment. Lowering your risk of catching
your stuff on fire, stop smoking.

In conclusion, smoking is bad. Its not even a matter of opinion, it is a fact. If

you are a smoker, please try your very best to quit. You have tons of people who
will support/help you along the way to recovery, do not fear.Smoking is just a
slower way of killing yourself because it wastes your money, messes with your
organs, and it can cause things like house fires.
