Advances in Clinical Diagnosis and
Emerging Insights About Pathogenesis

Program Director Michael R. Wilson, MD, San Francisco, CA

Program Description
This session will highlight the increasingly important and common clinical and scientific problem of diagnosis and
treatment of neuroinflammatory syndromes—a topic of great interest to practicing neurologists and one of the
most exciting and innovative areas of scientific discovery in neurology. The session will discuss the most helpful
clinical features and phenotypes of CNS inflammatory syndromes for differential diagnosis, clinical interpretation of
commercially available tests, the ongoing refinement of antibody and pathogen testing, and the development of new
and exciting ways to detect pathogens using high-throughput approaches. The session will provide a summary for
the clinical neurologist to approach diagnostic testing for infectious and inflammatory causes in these patients.
Learning Objectives Recommended Audience
Upon completion, participants should be able to Trainee; General Neurologist; Specialist Neurologist;
review the latest research on the optimal treatment Advanced Practice Provider
