ACTIVITY 1

GARDENING PROGRAM

MAIN OBJECTIVES

 Teach citizens of Brgy. Guyam Malaki a way of creating urban garden

 Impart the process of transforming kitchen waste into organic fertilizer.

URBAN GARDEN

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Through the use of sustainably reusable
materials anyone can grow their own outdoor urban garden. Occasionally, there are lots of
items that people could use in starting their own garden. This way is a utilization of space and
land when it comes to gardening. It lessens the hassle of finding available land in planting
which normal people or families find hard to do so.

In general, in this activity we will make use of a repurposed plastic bottle in order to
grow seedlings and making it into a reusable seed-sprouting container.

Materials Needed:

 Used cans, plastic bottles

 Soil
 Water

Steps:

1. Cut the plastic bottle in half.

2. Cut an “X” in the lid for drainage.

3. Invert the top half, and fill it with soil.

4. Place the inverted top inside the bottom half.

5. Plant your seed and water the soil.

food waste materials in their kitchen.
