Reading/Language Arts
In Language Arts our learning targets this week have included:
*Spelling focus: compound words
* the sound made by “ue”, “ui”, and “ew” in words like blue, fruit, and flew
*Adjectives: recognizing adjectives as describing words; adjectives for how
many and articles: a, an, and the
*theme– We’ve talked about many stories have themes. These are ideas
that are important to a lot of people like friendship, jealousy, and individual
differences. This week’s story was about a jealous older sibling!
*story structure – We have talked about beginning, middle, and end. We
have also talked about problem and solution!
What else: This week we did writing to sources. We used our text from
last week to answer a question. We learned to restate the question as a
beginning sentence, to cite evidence from the text, and to restate what we
were talking about at the end! We also started a realistic fiction piece that
we will be working on all next week. Our goal in this longer piece is to have
time to reread our work and add to it, to share it with a peer, and to edit it
for a published copy!
Math
This week we began Unit 7 on
Science
Geometry, Measurement, and This week we have
Equal Shares. Our learning
learned about fish! They have
