Internship Proposal Template

Intern’s Name: Hogan Davidson

Job title: Construction Worker
Project Start Date: Ideally after Hockey Season (around beginning to mid-
March)
Project Duration: 45 hours
Intern Supervisor: Jeff Bunnewith
Project Description:
Will help Jeff with projects for his local construction company. Ideally, will help
with the creation of “tiny homes” which Jeff has helped make over the last
couple years. I will be siding a tiny house, work on re-roofing, build a garden
shed/greenhouse, help with a small addition on a barn, repair a floor joist in an
old farmhouse.
Project Goals:
The ideal outcome is for me to gain a vast knowledge in construction. I am
hoping to start a fishing resort and guide service in NW Ontario. At the
moment I have a storage building that I will need to renovate, and all aspects
of construction could prove invaluable. Additionally, I am planning on building
a small cabin/house at my land back home. All the trees on the land died and
left an abundance of wood. Knowledge from this internship will be paramount
in the completion of this cabin.
Jeff’s Goal in this internship is to have extra labor and help. Additionally, he
enjoys teaching those who are interested in learning about construction. He
likes to keep a family atmosphere by working for people he knows and having
people he knows work for him.
Project Skills:
I have very limited construction knowledge. All construction aspects from
framing to roofing, etc. will be gained from completing this project. No tools
are necessary as Jeff will have all the tools necessary. Additional skills will
include budgeting, carpentry skills, installing windows/doors, and framing.
Duties and Tasks (Action Plan):
Duties and tasks will vary from day to day. They will all be determined by Jeff
and will all revolve around physical labor and hands on construction help.
Examples:
1. Staging on trucks.
2. Setting everything up in the morning.
3. Ensure tools run and everything is in place.
4. Help out with whatever is needed that day for that specific job which will
vary.
Evaluation and Project Completion:
Success will be defined if I complete the required tasks to Jeff’s approval and
if I am reliable and trustworthy through out the process. Additionally, if I help
jobs get done more efficiently and effectively the internship will be successful.
My performance will be evaluated by Jeff as we will work together. He will tell
me if my work meets expectations.
When the above listed specific jobs are all completed that is when the
internship project will be completed.
Pay and Benefits
Not paid, but I will be able to work hands on and learn first hand about
construction to prepare me for the future. Additionally, we agreed that by
doing this internship that Jeff will help draw up an in depth blueprint for my
cabin project back home.
Overview of the Organization:
State Line Builders is the company located in Webster, MA. Jeff has owned
the company since 1992 (27 years) and works almost entirely from word of
mouth. It is a Limited Liability Corporation specifically for legal protection. He
used to have a crew of 4-5 guys but that has scaled back to himself being the
sole permanent worker with one or two temporary workers that help with
bigger projects or developments.
