Assignment Title: Social Issue Revise

Student Writing Goal: to try and not put my own opinion in such a sensitive topic and to try and inform my readers

Instructions:
1) Re-read the paper (and teacher feedback).
2) Complete this reflection sheet.

What was the purpose of this writing assignment?

The purpose of this assignment was to try and pursue our readers to try to and understand of what we are
passionate of, based on the social issue that are currently going on in the world. And to bring awareness to
some of these issue that people tend to ignore or simply do not have reliable information. To show just
because we are young it does not mean we are not aware of what is currently going in. The essay shows that
there issue that have been going on for some time and it shows that not every issue can be solved quickly but
with the help of others we can try to solve some of the issues going on.

How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
I feel like I preformed pretty well based on the writing rubric. I got a pretty good grade but that does not
mean that it was easy for me to write the essay. There were parts of the essay that I had trouble with simply
because I felt like there was not enough information for me to make it into a paragraph.

What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
The piece I did well in was picking out the quotes for my essay. I choose quotes that where going to support
my claim and to further prove my point that I had written on my claim.

Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?

I choose to revise the social issue essay because there were some parts that I had spelling errors. In some
other parts I had to change some sentences because they were too short and they needed to flow. In others I
had to clarify what I was talking about. I didn’t spend as much as I wanted on proof reading the essay and I
should had someone read over it. It was things that I over looked and it sounded better in my head, I didn’t
read it aloud.

What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
I will do better in my next writing assignment by taking my time and not rush myself. Have a step by step and
give myself a certain limit in how much time I am going to spend on certain sections. Plan out what I am
going to write about ahead of time so the only thing I would need to do is just type it on the computer. Not be
repetitive in the words I use. Try and not to stray off topic because I tend to do that quite often.

To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
I did a better job with my thesis. It was very directive and straight to the point of what my essay was going to
be about.
