1. To serve as an aid in the design of vertical formwork elements (columns and walls) compile a
spreadsheet to calculate the design pressures as per the requirements of AS3610 4.4.5.1.
The spreadsheet should include charts to display the calculated data graphically, for various
rates of pour. Ease of use is a key factor.
Include in the spreadsheet any instructions for the operator.
Determine a suitable number of points to plot and display the data accurately in the charts.
(10 marks)

2. Design a spreadsheet to calculate and draw, the points on a Mass Haul Diagram. Submit a
generic version of the spreadsheet, and three test sheets. The test data should be questions
1, 1a and 2 from Tutorial Sheet 1. (10 marks)

3. For the small Car Park structure shown, undertake the following tasks:

Part A

Design the formwork for the parapet wall, including any recommendations on how to
pour the wall.

Sketch and label all elements in the formwork and supporting falsework

Include all catalogues used in the design, if not supplied in the lectures.

Write a brief explanation of how the design evolved and any assumptions/design
decisions that were made. (15 marks)

Part B

Design the formwork for the suspended slab.

The following information pertains to the design.

 The slab is 200mm thick.

 The parapet wall is 200mm thick.
 All beams are 600mm x 400mm, and all columns are 400mm x 400mm

The assignment is to be submitted as a hard copy, with
Assignment Cover Sheet. Ideally, submitted by hand
prior to the weekly lecture, else via the Engineering
Office, L2, Building 23.
Copies of the spreadsheets to be emailed to me, on the
day of submission, prior to the cut off time. Ensure files
names include Student Name and ID.
