WELCOME TO THE TUTOROO

COMMUNITY!

This is an Introductory Guide for first-time TUTOROO tutors,

please read it carefully before confirming your first private
lessons with students.

We will be sharing some of our best language tutor practices to help

increase your chances of getting new lessons booked with your first
students.

(A) How will I get introduced to students with TUTOROO?

TUTOROO will be introducing you to students through WhatsApp. You

may respond to the invitations by either rejecting the offers or by
introducing yourself to the student in the WhatsApp group directly.
Whether you’re interested in the offer or not, make sure you respond to
it within 24 hours, otherwise we will no longer introduce you as a
TUTOROO tutor!

TIP: Prepare a template for your self-introduction and

availabilities in the WhatsApp group chat!
Example:

Hello (Student's name), I have been teaching English for 2 years both privately
and in schools. As I am a stage actor, I specialize in teaching conversational
English, speech, and drama. I have taught adults/ children IELTS and have
worked as an IETLS examiner. My style of teaching is to have active
conversations. My current availabilities are from Tuesday to Friday, 7pm
onwards and from 9am to 12pm during the weekends! Let me know where
and when you would like to meet up for our first lesson. :)

(B) Do we have to upload photos or videos?

Where will they be seen?

Your profile pictures and short introduction videos help students

confirm you as their new tutor. It’s not always easy for them to book a
lesson with a new tutor without knowing who they will meet. That’s why
at TUTOROO, we encourage our tutors to share a casual picture as well
as a video (20 seconds maximum) in which they introduce themselves
and give out a few details such as where they are from and their
teaching experiences, if there are any. We will be marketing you on our
website www.tutoroo.co and in the WhatsApp groups wherein you can
introduce yourself to new students!

TIP: A clear (bright, good quality, not blurry) photo and a good
introduction video (clear sound, well lighted) are highly
recommended as your potential students will judge you based
on that as well as your personal introduction before deciding
to hire you or not. Remember the importance of first
impressions, your profile picture and video will serve as that.
(C) Be pro-active in the WhatsApp introduction chats

TUTOROO will usually introduce 2 tutors for each new request we

receive, so the faster you reply, the higher your chances will be to
become their private tutor! Introduce yourself as soon as you receive
the introduction on WhatsApp to increase your chances in confirming
that new student will hire you as their private language tutor.

Make sure to keep the group chats active and ask for updates if you
see that the students do not reply as fast as expected. Show interest
for each new student we introduce you to by asking questions such as
the reasons why they want to practice your language, what are their
short and long term goals as well as their expectations with your
classes. Then demonstrate how your experience or style of teaching
can help them achieve their goals. Confirm both your availabilities,
schedule your first lesson, and you’re all set!

For adult students, we advise our tutors to meet with them in a public
place at least for your first appointment with them. Also, most parents
will want the lessons for their kids to take place at their home. In both
cases, make sure you gather as much information as possible about
the student(s) before your first lessons!

95% of the students who book a first class through TUTOROO commit
to a fixed frequency (once or twice a week) and stay with our tutors
for more than 4 months.
