REFLECTION 1

Today was indeed an informative day, I was introduced to something that is becoming very

popular in many professions especially the education system. ICT is an area where I am not

comfortable and even though it’s the first day, I felt like I have learned a lot already. Using Edmodo

and Trello was somewhat confusing at first, but as I went along using it during the class it became

easier. It was even more encouraging for me, knowing that when I went home that night and tried

to login, I remembered everything. I was unaware of the policies that exists on devices and Social

Media so I would like to educate myself more, to have a better idea of what is expected or the

limitations for using ICT at my school. My concerns however, would be the availability of devices

from students but this can mended by sharing and working in pairs or groups. Another thought to

be concerned about is the distraction it might cause for the rest of the day when they will have

other classes and the device is not required. Students might use their phones or laptops during

classes or other students might interfere with it which can lead to serious problems.

I have always been in agreement with many new implementations, however, a lot of times

schools are not equipped to facilitate those ideas or the extent to what is expected from students in

some schools are unrealistic. Accepting that ICT in education is effective and keeping in mind the

varied abilities of students I teach, I will try my best to incorporate ICT in my lessons. I have

already started in a minute way by creating WhatsApp groups and sending relevant you tube videos

to students on topics in Mathematics as well as have them send pictures of solutions for me to

correct when they do extra work even during the vacation.
