Memorandum of Association

1. The name of the Society shall be: ANYA AKASH- An Association for

alternative educational and cultural activities in slum area.

2. The Registered office of the Association shall be situated at: 4 NO. BASANTI

COLONY, ULTADANGA, KOLKATA-67

3. The aims and objectives for which the Association is established are:

i. To provide community based education to the local children using

various formal and informal methods which will help them to develop

livelihood skills for the future as well as to develop themselves as a good

human being.

ii. To encourage girl child education and to prevent under age marriages.

iii. To reduce the school drop out rates by mainstreaming children into

formal schools.

iv. To empower adolescent girls and married women with the right

information and skills that enable them to make informed decisions about

their health and in particular their sexual and reproductive health and

their family size.

v. To promote gender sensitivity and gender equality among the children

through various activities like interactive sessions, workshops and other

innovative methods.

vii. To Prevent Violence against Women and Children through crisis

intervention by working with slum communities forming empowered

women's groups and to provide counseling to women and children facing

violence in their immediate environment.

viii. To develop scientific temper in the children and in the community in

general, to fight against superstitions embedded in the society.

ix. To increase participation and awareness of local / community people,

regarding issues related to education of children, gender discrimination,

child abuse, child labor etc.

x. To encourage the active participation of the local inhabitants in the

community level planning and programming.

xi. Organizing Community Level Awareness programs on Education, Health,

& social issues.

xii. To promote health & hygiene, generate awareness regarding common

diseases and pandemic.

xiii. To endeavour for the development of an Eco-friendly society having

better understanding of environment and its processes and to work for

conservation of ecosystems.

xiv. To exhort the cause of peace, harmony, benevolence and human

brotherhood in society.

xv. To promote cultural activities and to use different art forms as tools to

spread socially relevant messages.

 xvi. To develop manpower – training of local students to work as educator by

organizing workshops on education, cultural activity.

4. For all or any of the above objects of the Association, the executive committee

shall have the power

interalia:

a. The Association shall have the power to frame rules and bye laws under its

constitution.

b. The management and control of the affairs of the Association shall be

carried on in accordance with the Rules, as may be framed or modified from

time to time.

c. To raise fund for the Association by receiving entrance fees, subscription

(Membership), donations and similar other ways.

d. To own, receive, purchase, lease, borrow mortgage & dispose of any kind or

to enter into any contract for or in connection with the purpose and objects

of the Association.

e. To utilize income from all sources to fulfill all or any of the above objects.

f. To erect and furnish buildings in order to make provision for the service as

mentioned in the objects.

g. To do or get done, all such acts, deeds, matters and other lawful things as are

conducive or incidental to the attainment of the above objectives.

h. To open and account or accounts with a scheduled bank or a co-operative

society engaged in carrying on the business of banking. The executive

committee shall operate the account or accounts and may at any time pay or

cause to be paid any amount forming part of the Associations fund or income

thereof to the credit of any such account or accounts either by way of

savings A/c, current A/c, fixed deposit a/c or any other a/c.

i. All the income, earnings, movable, immovable properties of the Association

shall be solely utilized and applied towards the promotion of its aims and

objects only as set forth in the Memorandum of the Association and no profit

on thereof shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of

dividends, bonus profit or in nay manner whatsoever to the present or past

members of the Association or to any person claiming through any one or

more of the present or past members. No members of the Association shall

have any personal claim on any movable or immovable properties of the

Association or make any profit, whatsoever by virtue of his/her membership.

of the Association to whom the management of the Association is entrusted

 as required under Section 2 of the Societies Registration Act 1961, as

applicable to the State of West Bengal are as follows:

5. We, the undersigned are desirous of forming an Association namely ANYA

AKASH under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act in pursuance of

this memorandum of Association.
