About Sophos Mobile Control

Sophos Mobile Control (SMC) is a device management software designed to manage all your
mobile devices. SMC works efficiently in mobile operating systems Android, iOS and
Windows Phone. All synchronized mobile devices are controlled through a common SMC
server. The administrator can use the SMC Admin UI to manage the devices, policies and
other features. SMC installed on every mobile device communicates with the SMC Server.
For uninterrupted use of all the features, install our app Sophos Secure Workspace into your
mobile device. It can securely store and access encrypted cloud documents.

Corporate Documents
With this feature of the SMC, the administrator can securely distribute any corporate
document to a defined selected users. The administrator can upload documents to the SMC
Server and make them available for certain user groups. The users need to install Sophos
Secure Workspace app on their device and can use it to access these documents.
How to distribute a corporate document to a user group?

First, you need to have the role of a Content Administrator to distribute a corporate
document among a defined user group. Administrators with this role can only upload or
delete corporate documents, but they do not have the rights to do other tasks in SMC
Admin. To change the role of an Administrator to a Content Administrator, refer to Section
3.
1. Accessing Corporate Documents in SMC Admin
a. Go to the SMC Navigation Panel and select the Documents section. This will provide
you an overview of all the corporate documents already uploaded to the SMC
server.
2. Distributing Corporate Documents to a User Group
a. Double click on the document to be shared.
b. Select the required “Category”.
c. Check or uncheck the three boxes as per your requirement – “Copy to clipboard”,
“Share document” and “Use document offline”.
d. Select the User Group with which the document need to be shared.
3. Changing the Role from an Administrator to a Content Administrator
a. An Administrator need to create a user account for the Content Administrator.
b. Open the Edit Administrator panel of the SMC.
c. Fill all the required fills in the blanks.
d. Select “Content Admin” from the drop down list in the fill for “Role”.
e. Click “Save”.
4. Accessing Corporate Documents by User
a. Install Sophos Secure Workspace app into your iOS or Android mobile device.
b. Open app and go to the “Corporate Documents” section.
c. Open the required folder and you can access the documents.
