Dear applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church Scholarship. The
Scholarship Aid Ministry will award a limited number of merit-based scholarships, and a Wylie
Jones Legacy Service award to a student with outstanding ministry/community involvement.

Students meeting the following selection criteria are encouraged to apply:

 Member of GGMBC for one (1) year or longer
 Undergrad, degree seeking from accredited college/university
 Enrolled in at least 6 credits
 GPA of 3.0 or higher for merit-based scholarship
 GPA of 2.5 or higher and exceptional ministry/community/college involvement for Wylie
Jones Legacy Service award

In order to be considered for a scholarship, we ask that you complete the attached application, and
provide supporting documentation from your high school, college/ or university: your transcript
(high school or college), and costs of attendance. Your personal statement and the letter of
recommendation/reference allow us to learn more about you and your plans for the future. The
letter of recommendation/reference should come from any adult who knows you well – a teacher,
guidance counselor, employer or a member of GGMBC. We cannot, however, accept letters of
recommendation/reference from family member, Pastor Thomas, or any Scholarship Aid Ministry
member. You must also have the leader of the ministry/organization of which you are involved
complete our Ministry/Organization Involvement Questionnaire stating your involvement in that
ministry/organization.

Please note that if you are awarded a scholarship, you will be obligated to commit to participate in
and support one or more activities of the Scholarship Aid Ministry.

The application and supporting materials (college schedule/bill, transcript from high
school/college, letter of recommendation, Ministry/Organization Involvement Questionnaire, cost
of attendance and your personal statement) must be complete and submitted to a member of the
Scholarship Aid Ministry by Sunday, June 30, 2019. Attached is a list of current Scholarship Aid
Ministry members. In addition, as a part of the application process, members of this Ministry may
require an interview with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any member of
the Scholarship Aid ministry.

An incomplete or late application packet will not be considered. A submitted application does not
guarantee an award.

Again, thank you for your interest.

Sincerely,
Andrea Lay
Scholarship Aid Ministry Leader
