Scholarship Essay

Undermined development

People's minds are puzzle, you can never tell what a person is thinking until you have all

the pieces put together, while there are professionals who study the field in order to better

understand they way certain individuals think, they are almost always wrong. People are not

simple, even if they seem like so on the outside, if a person is overweight you can probably

assume they aren't active, or if a person constantly studies you can assume they might have an

above average intelligence, but if someone tries to live enjoyably and does not concern so much

with school or a job, then are they considered lazy or are they considered smart? everyone

would want to live their lives as peacefully with little worked required if they could and this is with

exceptional reason, we are not immortal, at some point we are here, we develop throughout the

years, and then we leave the world to the next generation, however, this does not mean life has

no meaning it means the genuine opposite.

I met a personage in my late sophomore year who exerted transformation in my

mentality and the the way i operate forever, moreover, change is never something that can be

done just by simply deciding to do so, it's something that needs to occur naturally through the

proper mindset, but it's problematic to change a mindset because it can never be accomplished

through internal thoughts and determination, such a feat can only be accomplished through an

external force whether it be some sort of hardship faced, or someone who you care about,

external force is the key to true change. This person is my best friend Andres Gandarilla, he’s

the one exclusive type of person people will rarely meet, the type of friend that when you both

have families, you can come over on the holidays and watch the kids play and open presents or

go out trick-or-treating.while these are decent thoughts, its not entirely what this essay is about.

When I was around freshmen year in highschool all I cared about was what everyone

else seemed to cared about which is how others perceive you, it's not surprising to hear about a

self conscious teen however, two years after I became acquainted with my friend Andres I

noticed characteristics about myself, I had noticed that i'm exceptionally amiable, but in a harsh

way, like when you were younger and your mother tried to force feed you your vegetables, and

you thought you hated her for it at the time, only for you to thank her later on when you grew up.

I am willing to do harsh actions for someone else's own well being, or even sacrifice myself in

the right situations, not because i don't want to live but because i know that it's for the best. After

you stop caring about self conscious thoughts, an entire new world of thought processes and

ideal mind sets are opened up to individuals, you just need the right key to open the door to

unlock such mindsets.

The reason behind why Andres had a huge impact on me was because the person I

developed into overtimes of hardships, sacrifices, and losses that helped me shape the way I

am and my personal outlook on life. Andres was someone who had a genuinely similar

personality to mine and being able to talk to someone with a similar mindset helped me review

similar actions i made based on him and reviewed them to see if they could have been better.

People are selfish and it takes more than others a while to fully understand their situation as an

individual while they are alive, people will try extremely hard to go out of their way to do

something nonsensical that only benefits them, people are immature, everyone makes mistakes

and everyone at some point has given up on some ambition or dream they wanted to achieve,

we only have a certain amount of time on this earth and its essential to keep that in mind while

making various paramount decisions.

Earlier I asked the question “if someone tries to live enjoyably and does not concern so

much with school or a job, then are they considered lazy or are they considered smart?”, the

answer is unknown, while the sound of someone only living for pure entertainment and not

genuinely caring about responsibility obviously sounds like the wrong way for one to live their

life, it may not be for them, it always depends on the person and their morals. Now let me tell

you about me, i play video games and work out in order to burn of stress so that when i have

fifty assignments due in one week I can feel more comfortable to complete such tasks, people

call me smart, I tell them “i just work hard”, I think personal relationships are truly important and

can even shape one's future, i believe there's no need to establish too much thought into

something nonsensical because it could cloud my judgment or ideas. I will work hard to cross

any finish line, any task given, not because I want to but because I know it's what's best for me,

but I also know that everyone needs to have some enjoyment, it's important for not only you and

me, but if there was no way to have any type of pleasure or enjoyment, the world could collapse

on itself. My name is Caleb Todd and I will do whatever it takes to thrive and complete my work

while keeping in mind that it's also my responsibility to live lively while doing so.
