Narrative Report
Day 5 of INSET
October 26, 2018

On the last day of our INSET (In-service Training) 2018, we have gathered first
by means of an opening prayer lead by Sir Neil Aldrin B. Alfaro. Then after that, Ma’am
Michelle G. Boncodin led the Philippine National Anthem. Next, Ma’am Mary France B.
Cepres have checked our attendance and conduct an energizer. Then after the
energizer, Ma’am Nery B. De Lara have recapitulated what we have discuss last
Thursday, October 26, 2018. She enumerates the topics from creative ways in teaching
mathematics down to Strategies and interventions in improving numeracy skills of
pupils.
On the training proper of the INSET. The first to discuss the “Creative ways in
Teaching Mathematics” is Maam Jhonna Marie S. Payo. Reported some of the ways in
teaching Math like using dramatization or role-playing and using children’s bodies, by
using their body parts use as measuring tool. Then after that “Modulo Arts” had
introduce and teach us how to make this kind of art by Sir Giovani S. Villamora. Modulo
5 or mod 5 is the example taught to us that has five icons on each. Each icon must be
in different designs in making modulo art. Examples of the patters are repetition and
reflection. Third, to elaborate her topic is Ma’am Amelia A. Rodriguez. Her topic was all
about “Cooperative Learning”. On this topic, this is more on pupil-to-pupil type of
learning. Where in one pupil teaches one another or also known as coaching or peer
tutoring. Second to the last is Ma’am Dominga C. Padua to discuss the different
“Techniques in Teaching Mathematics”. She tackles some examples, which I have
remembered are demonstration approach wherein the teacher provides a problem then
the learners identify the problem and brainstorming wherein teacher elicits or gather
many ideas as possible from the learners. Lastly, “Strategies and Interventions in
Improving Numeracy Skills of Pupils” which has been discussed by Ma’am Nery B. De
Lara. Examples like numeracy catch up where in pupils are translating the numbers
from 1-up to first, second, third, fourth, and so on… and also classroom displays in
bulletin board or in the top of black board, helps and reminds the students the numbers
and operations to be used in mathematics as used for daily living.
All of the speakers have done reporting their topics. Closing program is the next
to end the INSET. Three of the teachers from HIWACLOY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL give
there impression on our INSET. Namely, Maam Mariel Connie J. Bisnar, Edna C. Peňa,
and Sir Michael Vincent S. Capiz. Next is the awarding of certificates that which led by
our Head Teacher Ma’am Tita C. De Leon. After that, Inspirational Message has given
