Teacher’s Diary

The Teacher’s Diary is a Thai romantic, comedy and drama movie set in Thailand. The
story is about the two teachers who were assigned to teach at the same rural school (a remote
floating school without electricity and phone signal), but different time. The former teacher, Ann
wrote her thoughts and feelings on a diary while she was teaching there. Soon, Teacher Ann left
this rural school to another school. The latter teacher, Song came as a substitute. He found her
diary, and wrote his thoughts and feelings on that diary too. He wanted to meet Teacher Ann. One
day Teacher Song left the school, while Teacher Ann returned. The main characters didn’t
actually meet until the last scene this adds a creative element and leaves the viewers wondering
when they will finally meet and if it will match up to the expectations they have.

LEARNERS - The learners are students from the remote area. The students are all poor and had
so many problems with their studies and family. They faced lots of challenges with their studies
(On how will they be able to finish their studies). One of the students in the remote area need to
stop going to school because of a family problem. The students failed but, given a chance to try
again until they become successful. With the help, guidance and support from the teacher they
carried them all trials.

TEACHERS - There are two teachers, a not so smart teacher and a smart teacher. One of them
is Ms. Ann the smart teacher Ms. Ann became a teacher in the isolated place, for the reason of
argued about her tattoo, of her headmaster. Ms. Ann defended herself that her tattoo has never
interfering to her teaching skills. Yet, headmaster didn’t agreed with that as professionalism, so
he instructed to teach in the school were in the lake and another things is there are no teachers
wanted to teach in that isolated place. At first. Ms. Ann wants to prove to the headmaster that she
is right but in the end they prepared to teach there because she thought that the children had to
study although there are only 4 students and the trip to reach the place was 6 hours from the
town. Ms. Ann found herself happy and contented in that school to teach the students. She is
also the one who writes on a diary on what happened every single day in school.
Mr. Song is one of the two teachers. He is a registered teacher in the public school as a
sport teacher but there was no vacancy, so he was commanded to teach in the school that located
in the remote area (in the middle of lake). Mr. Song was an former wrestler. He did not know
how to teach well, so the students did not like him. But it all changed after he found a diary that
belonged to Ms. Ann. The diary is about the lonely status of the school. Mr. Song read every
page of the diary again and again and it gave encouragement to him and he fell in love with Ms.
Ann although they did not meet yet.

Mr. Song knew all about the feelings of Ms. Ann, when she was sent to the rural school,
the feeling of being broken hearted and how she jumped in to the water to ease the pain. Ms. Ann
also found a human corpse under the school’s toilet. Not too differ from Ms. Ann, Mr. Song also
felt the same feeling when one of the student stop because of the needs of the family. So, Mr.
Song helped the student’s father to work every weekend in order to make that student was
permitted to go to school. He also repaired the part of the school that are broken because of the
storm. He realize that the students need a teacher at the same time a parent to them. He learn how
to teach in the level of his students and learned to live in the school boat and give the needs of
the students to learn, like he fasten the boat behind the school with string because there was a
student that ask him how was the felt when you ride by train. He wrote his story in the Ann’s
diary and added a little note for her in the end of the diary.
Mr. Melody is one of the two instructors. He is an enrolled educator in the government
funded school as a game instructor however there was no opening, so he was directed to educate
in the school that situated in the remote zone (amidst lake). Mr. Tune was a previous wrestler. He
didn't have even an inkling how to show well, so the understudies disliked him. In any case,
everything changed after he found a journal that had a place with Ms. Ann. The journal is about
the desolate status of the school. Mr. Melody read each page of the journal over and over and it
offered consolation to him and he went gaga for Ms. Ann in spite of the fact that they didn't meet
yet.

Mr. Melody thoroughly understood the sentiments of Ms. Ann, when she was sent to the
country school, the sentiment of being beaten down and how she bounced in to the water to
facilitate the agony. Ms. Ann likewise found a human carcass under the school's latrine. Not very

STRATEGIES – I think The strategy used by Mr. Song in this movie is experiential learning
process. Experiential learning is the process of learning through experience, and is more
specifically defined as "learning through reflection on doing". The teacher teach in the level of
his students and learned to live in the school boat and give the needs of the students to learn, like
he fasten the boat behind the school with string because there was a student that ask him how
was the felt when you ride by train.

MATERIALS – The school is made of woods. The materials in school are blackboard and
chalk, old chairs and old tables. The school was affected by the storm and the parts of the school
is broken which is not safe for the students.

ADMINISTRATOR - the administration, headed by the principal that follow the rules and
regulations by the teachers.
